Oh Im thinking of waiting for the 2013 W222. That's why I'm in a pickle, I'm not sure if I can wait that long for the release of it when I can go and get a 6 series today. I test drove the 2012 W221 with the 4.6 TT V8 and it was amazingly torquey and had more than adequate power. I need to go test drive the 650.

Please everyone, no more horror stories. I think all of us know German cars can be problematic or you could get one that hardly sees the service dept. There will always be a Lexus at my house....but it's time to look elsewhere for the car satisfaction Lexus refuses to offer, like a sexy big coupe with loads of torque.
If the car requires trips to the dealer for this and that, I'm prepared. I'm not expecting a Lexus. This doesn't mean I have decided to get this car. It just means I am looking for something like it and I'm prepared for the worst......but there is a whole lotta good with this thing.

Couldn't have been said better. Im just like you I vowed to always have my ol' GS as a backup car for whatever else I buy. You know I never considered the CL Class, they're extremely nice and more luxurious than a 6 Series but more expensive because I'd want a 600 with the V12.

Agree, the sport AND sport + settings sold me. I too was surprised by how the 650 and 750 instantly shrink around you when the sport + setting is engaged. You forget all about the weight. I was close to pulling the trigger on the 650, but went with the 750 to replace my 911. Can't go wrong with the 650; though, I'd wait for the 2013 for the HP bump and the 8 speed since it will be onsale in a few months.

That's why after having 25 Lexus and countless Toyotas, I, too, went to the dark side. There are more good than bad, and I do enjoy it everyday.

I didn't know there was a big power increase for the next model year. 45 hp increase is huge. I would definitely hate to get one now and see the new one banging out 45 more horses. I have a few months before I'm ready, maybe it will be out by then.....or the M6!

Yeah, wait for the new model, the transmission makes the biggest difference. The current 6 speed ZF is not that perfect.

yes 2012 6er has always been 8 speed. The 7er switched to the 8 speed for 2013. So as of 2013, 3er, x5, x6, x3, x1, 5er, 6er and 7er are all 8 speed. Pretty much the whole lineup except the M Cars which have a 7 speed DCT and the old 3 coupe which will be replaced next year.

Yes it is an 8 speed and I found it to be very accomodating. At slower speeds it felt very Lexus-like. At high speed I was able to break loose the rear tires while power lane changing and simultaneously accelerating. It surprised me because modern cars usually have traction control to prevent such manuevers. I guess it was turned off. Soon as I returned to straight forward motion the entired car regained control and became Lexus-like again.
I'm telling you guys it felt like 2 cars in one. A sporty car and luxury cruizer.
It really doesn't need that extra 45 hp. But more power is always better. Long as the price doesn't increase.

Yes...in my earlier post I incorrectly stated that the '13 650i would get the 8 speed. I forgot the '12 already has the 8 speed. The 750i will get the 8 speed for the '13 model yr.

Guess I automatically thought 6 and 7 has same tranny. Hope Dinan come up with tune for the new motor soon! The current stage 1 already up the hp from 400 to 495, can't wait to see how much they can bump the power from 445hp.
