Congratulations MM!!

Although I haven't driven a Verano yet, I did have a Regal GS for a couple of days and thought it was excellent. Very quiet and compliant on the road.

Please keep us updated with your first impressions and enjoy your new ride in good health.

Nice!!!!

I love the new Buick styles.

Every time I see the regal gs with the new chrome 19-20’s, it looks very sharp \ aggressive to me.

Thanks. It's a leather/cloth combo. My big rump and torso is not easy on car seats, though, of course, I don't have kids or pets getting them dirty either.

The Verano was not my only consideration. I also considered a number of other vehicles, including a Lexus ES350 or another Subie. I probably would have gotten another Subie except for two things...first, with an occasional exception, winters are not as bad in this area now as they used to be, and second, the non-turbo Subies almost all come with red/blus idiot lights instead of an engine temp-gauge (a gauge for me is a MUST), and I'm not sure I trust the CVT they now use on many of the 2.5L four-cylinders. Both my Outback and my brother's former Impreza, over time, had temperature-fluctuations and needed required cooling-system repairs that would not have been detected with simple idiot-lights....Subaru's PR about the idiot-lights not withstanding.

Thanks, J.P.

I looked at the Regal GS (I had already done a CL-requested review on the standard Regal), but I wasn't as impressed with it, overall, as with the Verano. The Verano also is a tidier, more-compact package that is easier to park in the crowded lots I often find myself in.

(Hmmm...now about that lack of a body-side moulding)..........

Thanks. I hope I won't NEED the SCRATCH-OUT....especially on new paint.

Thanks. I considered the Regal GS, and found it too much of a sport-sedan for my tastes (though the Verano also has a surprisingly responsive chassis). The Regal's Quiet-Tuning and sound-insulation also couldn't match the Verano's.

It will also be used, of course, like my Subie was, to get me back and forth from the local shops to do auto-reviews for you guys.

Thanks, Paul.

Yes, Buick did their homework on the Verano with the Quiet-Tuning, but I wouldn't say it's any quieter than some of the better Lexus vehicles I've driven. The LS460, ES350, and RX350 (especially the LS) all have noticeably less engine-noise than the Verano under power. But, at low throttle-levels and on smoother road-surfaces, the Verano does match Lexus-quiet, especially by the standards of its compact-car class.
