A taxi driver in Greece managed to take his Mercedes E-Class to 1 million km (over 620,000 miles), with the man now enjoying a bit of celebrity together with his Merc.
The car we are talking about is a 2003 Mercedes-Benz E270 CDI, a model that was not offered in the US. It still uses its original five-cylinder diesel engine and six-speed manual transmission. Throughout the many miles he has covered, George Vassilakis’s car, has been through an intercooler, a clutch and a turbocharger nozzle, but no other repairs apart form the standard maintenance.
The odometer got stuck at 999,999 km, so it didn’t go back to 0, with Vassilakis claiming that his W211 E-Class currently has 1,030,000 km (about 640,000 miles).
