Autoblog should have the story Tuesday morning and keep in mind these are only renderings.
From the pics at Car and Driver, it appears Mercedes took out a lot of styling from the front and sides. Gone are the cluttered double headlights and funky kangaroo thighs around the rear wheel. Rear lights now look like Dodge Journey's. Overall, it's a much plainer and cleaner look, but the car lost some character. Being a fan of conservative and stately sedans, I like it. Thoughts?

Okay I have to say this. How many times did people say "OMG THE GS COPIES E-CLASS LIGHTS" just b/c they were quad lamps.
Now that the GS went with a one headlight and if the E-class the same thing will people say "OMG THE E-CLASS COPIES GS LIGHTS"![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
(popcorn)
I look forward to the updates. Never liked the styling and the drive wasn't really amazing outside the E63 and the E63 buyer seems to be totally different than the previous model.
Finally its really funny how out of touch some of these writers are.
This is ridiculous b/c even with increasing competition the E-class sells at the same rate either 1st or 2nd with the 5 series. Also the "busy" styling didn't spurn buyers b/c again, it sells incredibly well. If anything the E-class drives amazingly dull but you don't hear much commentary about that do we? (Double standard)
Bottom line, E-class is an E-class and its going to be well received by consumers.

Why It Matters: The E-class is Benz's most important model. It's under increasing sales competition from the Audi A6, the BMW 5-series, and the new Lexus GS. Its busy styling was not greeted enthusiastically by either traditional buyers or by perfectionist esthetes, so this is Benz’s chance to fix that.
Bottom line, E-class is an E-class and its going to be well received by consumers.

I guess Michael Mauer should pride himself on how it took Mercedes-Benz over 21 years to undo a design feature he created back in 1991 on the W210 E-Class. I'm pretty sure that it's 98% correct the render, though the taillight indicator/back-up light might be thicker than shown.

A reader of Spanish auto website Autofacil claims to have nabbed the upcoming 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan without a dollop of camouflage. The photographer, Víctor Gutiérrez Poza, told the site that he caught the car from his room in the hotel Chamartín in Madrid, Spain.
While one can never be sure, the image does look legit to us. Moreover, it wouldn't be a first for a yet-to-be revealed Mercedes-Benz model to be filmed unguarded and undisguised out in the open, with the most recent case coming to mind being the CLA compacts sports saloon.
The revamped E-Class pictured here could be the E63 AMG model, as aside from the big alloy wheels, the red brake calipers and enlarged air vents on the front bumper that are clearly visible in this image, Poza was also able to tell the "V8 biturbo" logo on the front fenders.
The styling changes on the 2014 model are far more extensive than what you would expect from a mid-life makeover of a Mercedes-Benz model, with the most significant updates concerning the return to single headlamp units (from four) and the elimination of the pontoon-style rear side panels.
The design overhaul also brings a new front grille and bonnet together with re-styled bumpers, doors and fenders, while previous spy shots suggest that the rear will also be revamped.

hmm cant believe they got rid of the quad headlights...looks like major changes to the front but not much to the rear which is often criticized for being too plain. Also the grill area looks weird with the body gap just like the ES
