if gas cost $10/gallon right now, how would you change your driving habits/commute?
just curious what you guys would do if gas was $10+/gallon TODAY.
How would your driving habits change?
What would you drive?
as far as commuting to work -- for me...I'm lucky because I bike/bus to work that's 47 miles each way from to/from my house [of course if gas was that high I probably wouldn't have a job to go to (I work for an airline)].

I still would drive my IS as well. But it's always been my weekend ride. During any work week, I generally carpool with some of my friends and we rotate driving to work. But I believe there are a good number of cities worldwide that sell their version of gasoline for $10 or more. For me, it is what it is. Gas is a necessity to get where you want to go, and despite the rise in fuel prices right now, gas stations are still packed.

I live 3 blocks from work and school.
I generally walk anyway. With gas at almost $4/gallon again, the prospect of driving an LS400 right now is already ridiculous.

I'll be surprised if it reaches $10 in the U.S., since we don't tax gasoline at anywhere near the rate they do in Europe. But you are correct.....it won't stay at $3-4 forever.

In some countries like in Europe or some parts of Asia, fuel costs that much already. From what I know, most would either:
-use their cars but probably a bit less
-purchase smaller cars or those with lesser engine displacement
-use public transportation more often
For me, I would probably use the trains a bit more often.
P.S.
It reminds me of the movie "I am Legend". Fuel prices increased by 400% during the zombie outbreak
I know it's an extreme example but obviously, when all hell breaks loose in the whole world (if ever that happens), then something like this could occur.

if it were $10/gallon, i'd stay home even more, and i guess i'd have to consider getting a used econobox.

During the summer, I already ride my bike 3-4 days a week, so I'd continue doing that, or perhaps expand it into the colder months. Even absent that, with a 7 mile commute and an old E46 that averages 27mpg, driving wouldn't be an issue. It'd cost me $26/week to commute, which is quite manageable.
