If they want to market Lexus, go all the way.

2014 also signifies drop of Super GT performance due to "standardized" DTM spec. Drop by how much is yet to be seen.

Here are some 2013 GT-R GT500 pictures for comparison

And if you are still not sure what's going on take a look at the spec sheet

why is that, are they going to run same cars in DTM or?

going turbo for performance series is nice... they can do crazy numbers with small turbo's when reliability doesnt matter.

They will not run together with DTM at least not until 2017. As a matter of fact DTM and Super GT have contracts till 2016 for "standardized" specs and after that they will decide if they are going to extend the agreement or not. I'm not sure whats the point of it especially that Grand Am is involved as well.

Here is the read http://www.dtm.com/en/News/DTM-GRAND...s-in-2017.html

Engine going 4cyl and turbo is not really a big deal since Super GT was downsizing anyway, they are limited to 500hp no matter. Loose aero regulations played a big role and were the reason why Super GT was or maybe still is the fastest GT series on planet. 2013 GT500 ran neck to neck with WEC LMP2 cars when they compared the lap times, they were off by a second point something per lap.

Well I m not sure you can call Super GT a grand touring championship anyway They went from production car spec race cars to fit any engine in your production spec race car to very standardized series a la NASCAR in recent few years. There was a famous incident half a decade ago when FIA championship winning Maser MC12 (Ferrari FIA GT1 racing program in disguise) wanted to get into the championship but it failed so miserably that it had to pull out of the series before the championship even started. Why? Due to poor aero, not powertrain.

Anyway they predict that Super GT will still be faster than DTM due to tire rules and options.

Theyll be faster because theyre 1000kg compared to 1100kg currently. They probably have equal downforce or close to the current cars, the turbo engines will make more torque and DTM is only a second slower than lmp2 on the spec tire. SuperGT will be the fastest still, maybe even faster.

By the way, Toyota will be represented as a brand in GT300 with the GT-86. AND theres rumors of a GT3 version of the RC-F.
