s2k owners speak up!

The price of the S2000 has been creeping up in the past year or so. Supply and demand. There are too many kids who crash their cars so finding on in great condition for a reasonable price will be tough.

Seriously, I looked up KBB (which is usually extremely higher) than most classifieds, and in this case its an opposite. There's plenty of 2000's going for sale for CHEAP, but Imma try to stay away from them

I recently picked up an AP2 s2k and so far I really like it. Going from a GS to a s2k you'll have to accustom yourself to the drastic difference in space. Good luck with your search - its a great car.

I sold my 99 GS400 and bought a GPW AP1 S2000 back around 2007 when gas prices started creeping up. I owned the S2k until 2010 and put almost 40k miles on her. She held up well despite tons of abuse. S2k's are loud, cramped, and not very fast (read: supra owner), but they are fun go-karts, have the best gearbox in the industry, and get about 23mpg combined. My only advice is to keep an eye on the oil level. S2k's burn some oil when in VTEC. Also, keep in mind a replacement top is a $1200 job.
Nowadays, given the choice, I would pick a 2gen GS400/430 over an S2000 because I prefer comfort and smoothness when driving. Good luck in your search!

06+ AP2 so you have the option of Flashpro. You will regret not waiting for the perfect car. It's honestly night and day between AP1's and AP2's. Stay away from CA motors direct in stanton / fullerton. They advertise a ton of cars but most have problems and are brought in through auctions.
You can find replacement convertible tops for $500 or $600 and DIY. Gsteg knows more about these. I believe they are made by a company called Robbinson and are not made out of Vinyl.

I just sold my 2008 AP2...I wouldn't want it as a daily. Lowered on coils with a square set up the car is on rails. Theft rate is extremely high and this is also driving prices up. I had my car for only one year and sold it for more then what I had purchased for. I would daily the GS and keep the S as a weekend car or even a track car.
As mentioned above if you plan to mod the car Hondata Flashpro is very easy to use and only works on the AP2 DBW models. I couldn't deal with the lack of power so I boosted mine. Car really needs boost or a motor swap IMO.
