FRS/BRZ is probably too small for you, no offense, but they're about the size of a Miata ![Big Grin](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
My favorite option you listed: CTS V Wagon
Reasons why: It would look badass in black tucking some matte graphite Vossens![Wink](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Fast and Sporty, 556 hp, supercharged 6.2L V8 from a Corvette ZR1
Functional, its a wagon
Its American (you said you were leaning that way)
It pretty much sums up your list of wants, desires, and needs... Sure its not a coupe or technically a "sports car" but its one mean machine...
My top 4, after the Caddy, out of your options:
Audi S5 (RS5's just came out too...
)
Ford Mustang Boss 302
BMW M5
BMW M6 (current gen)
Stay Classy, big Mike![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

@1SICK/Mike
Hmm.......so you're looking for something other than Toyota or Lexus this time around ey?
If so, then what others suggested are strong candidates for your next automobile![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
However, my golly
I'm surprised no one here mentioned or suggested the Jaguar XJ

I've been thinking about replacing my LS 430. I'm also not cross shopping similar cars from different manufactures. Instead, here's my radar list:
1. Porsche Cayman S (or R) (2009 or newer) <-- for ? (mid-engine goodness)
2. Lexus GS350 F Sport (w/ ML) <-- 3-yr lease for daily grind / long trips and then see what's around
3. Scion FR-S (or Subaru BRZ) <-- for daily grind / track toy (so cheap, could keep the LS)
4. Lexus CT-200h F Sport <-- for daily grind.
Other possibilities:
5. BMW 330i <-- leased for daily grind (if everyone is trying and failing to beat this car, why not just get one.)
6. BMW M5 <-- Can't afford
7. Some kind of Porsche 911 <-- must be used to be in my price range.
8. Porsche 914 <-- for track toy / toy toy
9. Fiat 500 <-- cheapest possible leased only for daily grind / 2-mile commute (keep LS ??)
10. Just added to my list: one-eigth of an LFA. (Debs on Oct / Nov!)
Clearly, I'm confused.

Since you asked: OP expressed that he is car shopping and listed some pretty open criteria for his next car. I am also car shopping with very similar, wide-open criteria. Therefore, the intent was that my thoughts on the subject, a list of about 9 cars that I am considering, would be relevant to this conversion. I think all but two of the cars on my list meet the OP's open criteria of $20K-$80k, auto transmission only.
Also, until your post and this response, I did not see how my post created a tangent string of off-topic posts.
Therefore, I don't understand how my post was a hijack. It may be that my thoughts bring no value to the conversion, but that is a different issue.
If my post was out of line, it's OK with me that the appropriate moderator removes it.
Thanks.

Here's my 0.000002 cents :
1) You don't seem like a small car type of guy so anything 3 series/IS/A4 sized or smaller is out.
2) You don't seem like you run with the crowd so anything unimaginative like AMG or M or RS is out
3) After being so used to Lexus reliability, anything unreliable would probably give you a peptic ulcer
4) You'll probably want something that isn't crazy expensive since you'll be saving up long-term for the GS-F (your true heart's desire, this car is just a short-term fling, you'll always go back to your one true love : Lexus.)
After a process of elimination, that leaves us with either a well-maintained second-hand Porsche Panamera or a new Hyundai Genesis V8 R spec.
If you could stomach a bit of uncertainty, an used XF-R is also a possiblity. Newer Jags no longer have the reliability horrors of old. My uncle bought a second-hand S-type and had no problems throughout his ownership.
