Default No 2nd generation ISF?

http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/Secret-...-mini-GS-look/

A successor to the M3-challenging, 417bhp IS-F isn't completely ruled out, but unlikely in the current climate, say insiders.
Note: This article has already been posted in the 2014 IS thread, but this is such an important issue I feel it deserves special attention.

This is really disappointing and potentially disastrous news for Lexus if true.

That would really suck if it's true. I don't really care much for the 2IS, but the IS-F, to me, is a completely different animal than the IS350. Enough that it gets my attention everytime I see one on the road.

For the past couple of years the "car enthusiast" Lexus fans (myself included) have essentially been taking for granted that the ISF is here to stay, and in addition to an improved ISF we've been begging for a GSF and SCF/LSF.

But a comment like that makes it sound like a GSF and SCF/LSF are totally out of the question and a next generation ISF isn't even guaranteed.

I agree with this and really really hope that its not true and that a 2nd gen ISF is on the way. I currently have a 350 and next gen ISF was going to be my next car..... (assuming its everything that the 3rd gen ISX is being rumored to be)

The news source may be referring to no IS F in the UK.

This is a rather overgeneralized statement, I'd think.

I don't see how this can be disastrous....

If Lexus felt that an ISF wouldn't be financially viable, then making one would be disastrous.

I seriously doubt they won't be rolling out an ISF. They've built up too much in these past few years to just drop the ball.

It'd be disastrous among car enthusiasts from an image standpoint.

No car enthusiast would consider Lexus comparable to BMW/Mercedes if Lexus dropped its ISF while BMW and Mercedes continued with their M and AMG sectors, respectively.

Lexus Offers Up Details On A "Possible" IS-F Coupe

During the LF-CC’s North American at the 2012 SEMA Show, Lexus Marketing Boss Brian Bolain offered almost every possible detail on an upcoming performance two-door vehicle without necessarily confirming the production model. The new model will replace the outgoing SC and will most likely be offered with an IS-F Coupe nomenclature.

When talking about the sports car’s exterior design, Bolain said that the LF-CC Concept is a clear indication of what the future model will look like, especially when it comes to the monoform grille which will first be used in the upcoming 2014 IS F-Sport sedan. Also, the upcoming performance coupe will feature the company’s new signature Spindle Grille recently seen on the new GS sedan.

"Design is not something we’ve ever been given credit for. Design has got to become one of our hallmarks. With LF-LC and LF-CC we’re starting to prove to outsiders we can do it."

The future IS-F Coupe’s power source is still under consideration and Bolain confirmed that everything is possible, starting from a four-cylinder engine all the way up to a V8 engine.

It will stay. Lexus is now pushing their "F" line and sportiness more than ever. ISF is the foundation that supports the theme.
