I have a feeling that people discount TMG not understanding what it is... but the fact is that their parts are sold in official Toyota EU distribution just like F-Sport in the USA.

So think of it as if TRD wanted to do Scion TRD, and if TRD actually made F1 cars :-)
The question is not if TMG is capable of producing a good performance road car, the question is if Toyota believe there is a good enough business case to produce this car.

To me as a consumer, I just want to see it happen. I don't care if Toyota lose money on the project

OK, I stand corrected, that thing looks MUCH better in the glossy pix. The attention to detail everywhere is amazing. Imagine that car in a dark color, like dark blue or black???? OMG!!!! Just build the damn thing, even if it's only a 100 of them.... Whew, that's badazzzzzz!

For the full attention of TMG Cologne, TRD America, TOMS Japan, And Toyota Corporate Worldwide and ClubLexus members.

Guess what I was SITTING inside yesterday in Essen lads ? Yup, the one and only TMG TS-650.
I went to Essen specifically to see it and I was not disappointed.

I had a JDM twin turbo Toyota/Lexus Aristo for 5 years and A Twin Turbo Toyota/Lexus Soarer too Those car took more abuse than a *** (***insert wildly offensive simile here) and came back ready for more. I'm in a V8 SC430 now, and enjoying that a lot too now. I feel I'm well qualified to comment on this new concept car and brand.

Thanks to Jon Forker for the pics on SSI, the Irish Supra Specialists site. They are much better than my Nokia Fisher Price ones.
Lexus LS650 Prototype Set for Essen Motor Show-umxa0.jpg
SSI site, hi Marty !: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...5487342&type=1

It starts slow and ends on a high:

As you can see from the photos of the engine bay, they could have had a can of baked beans with a toy seaside windmill as the turbos and we wouldn't have known any different. They had no spec sheet to hand out, no brochure, nothing, just the car. The blanking of the exhaust manifolds in the engine bay might have been to hide some prtototype level engineering or turbochargers not from the Toyota stable, but I was irrationally annoyed at not to be able to see them.
The guy I was talking on the stand as he was the only person to make a good effort to engage with the public was Norbert Schafer of TMG Cologne. He is the guy on the left in the photo. His e-mail is norbert.schaefer@toyota-motorsport.com. His name between the German spelling and the email spelling is different, because I have no umlaut for the "a" in his name on his business card name. His mobile phone number is +49 152 22 960 357. Ring him and tell him that you want him to build the car, because I got the feling, I'm drawing my own conclusions here, the feeling that unless he can go to Toyota corporate with a big response from us guys, that the TMG TS-650 may remain an orphan, along with the immediate aspirations for the TMG brand..

Norbert also wants us to "like" and chat about the TMG TS-650 on the Facebook page for TMG, so please do right now. Thank you.
TMG facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/ToyotaMotorsport?fref=ts

My open letter to TMG in Cologne.

Thanks for our two friendly conversations yesterday about the TMG TS-650 we had Norbert Schaeffer. I was the guy that had this cars father, the JDM Aristo twin turbo and older JDM twin turbo Soarer, and currently has an Europe spec Lexus SC430, remember ?
Anyway as you requested, I'm doing my little bit to spread word of this great car, and hope you get the support from the bosses to say to them that this is the moment that TMG has emerged as a real alternative into the world of premium automotive brands like Brabus etc for those of us who wish to have a 650 bhp car that is going to be miles more reliable than the competition, judging by all the times you have won the hyper critical JD Power surveys and by my own personal experience.
As you said the car has full access to TMG breeding from your F1 and Racecar programs and people. TMG equals something more than just a Lexus I feel.

I personally feel vindicated, that my long term enthusiasm and support for Lexus products and the high powered JDM premium Toyota's has been finally acknowledged by you guys, and you are now rewarding us with this car, which means we don't have to buy a Brabus or a BMW M series or a that frankly ugly 4 seater Porsche thing to experience this level power reliably. The TMG TS-650 has filled a gaping hole in the product range with such authority that it is now inconceivable that this car would remain an orphan. Start making them now lads, the demand is there.

That much is clear.

Interior is from the pre-facelift LS............but the steering wheel is from the 2013 model year

Anyways, if you want to increase the chances of turning something like this into reality (possibly an LS-F for the 5th generation LS), then you know whom to send the e-mails to

there's no way lexus is going to deliver a car that looks like that. way too tacky, especially those awful hood scoops.

hope they bring the performance, but in something classy.

The journalist that released that posting on Motor Authority site is based in Cologne, which is home town of TMG too.
I reckon he's got some access to the "insider view" on TMG's current thoughts about this project and has transcribed their thought into the article.

Another article that shows some insight into the behind the scenes decisions yet to be fully made at TMG: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...ance-sub-brand

AND Toyota EU's own blog: http://blog.toyota.eu/2012/11/28/sho...can-do-at-tmg/

Anyone who is not a pansy, and has followed performance cars, is well accustomed to the aggressive lines the TS-650 displays. All the comments here by the cute loving crowd about the performance features throwing their sight lines off can go find themselves a SC430 or something with the soft lines they prefer. Lexus has many other cars that have no hints of performance to choose from, so go choose one. Every feature on this car belongs, and is beautiful (not to mention functional, and shouldn't be removed) as an overall package when taken in the context is should be taken in. Best offering since the LFA in my opinion. The only thing that could make this car hideous, is if the guy that set the price point for the LFA gets any say so.

^^^ Welcome aboard myndseye and thanks for the pictures V3Graham

The more I look at it, the more I like it.

I would like to put the TMG badge somewhere else though and leave the grill by itself.

They gotta remove that front plate for picture purposes b/c it disrupts the flow.

I think you get exactly where Lexus is headed and their overall intentions. Especially the bolded portion of your statement.

For too long, Lexus has remained too shackled to its past and has remained hostage to the fear of alienating its old customer base. This has allowed the Germans to lay monopoly to the sporty side of the luxury car market. It's not that Lexus was unable to build sporty cars--it was just unwilling to let go of the past.

Well I'm glad to see that that's not true anymore--if the GS350 F-Sport, LFA, ISF, the LF-LC, LF-CC and this TMG LS are any indication.

Like you said, those who love toned down inoffensive cars can always choose the ES and non F-Sport LS. Let the rest of us performance nuts enjoy our sporty (and still utterly reliable) Lexii.

I think the plate on the front makes it look like this is street ready. Like it's an actual car ready to be driven and not just a show queen.

I was at the show in germany when i saw this car and couldn't believe it....I think Toyota/Lexus needs to bring this show stopper to the stage to compete against it's german rivals and american powerhouses

Default Can i get more info on this build

I ready to spend the money if I can get these options on my car....Brembo carbon ceramic kit is alone worth this car and the twin-turbo setup is just cherry on top..... I have been talking to underground racing to get a custom turbo kit build for my LS460 because i know lexus will take too long to come out with their own packages.......
