the 6-speed in the mazda6 was developed by AISIN.

If I am not mistaken, the 6-speed in the IS250 is also.

Well both of these are also Japanese cars. I think the topic is regarding a predominantly American made sports car with a Japanese transmission.

True, yet not true.
The Mazda6 with the AISIN transmission was mated with a 3.0 Ford Duratec.
so once again, american engine + japanese transmission, and the car built in the Flat Rock, MI plant.

Well again no ones really questions the the Mazda though. In fact the relationship between Ford and Mazda, it makes sense. The Vette however is an icon and purists will cry foul

Aisin is in the Toyota family of companies. Toyota develops most (if not all) of their transmissions with Aisin (even if Toyota later builds the transmissions themselves). The Corvette's new 8-speed transmission is likely the 8-speed transmission used in Lexus models.

As spwolf said, if Porsche can have an Aisin transaxle, why can't Corvette use a Lexus transmission made by Aisin?

Again, even tough the Corvette has always been " America's Sportscar ", many of its parts come from all around the world, just like all the other cars out there.

You're not telling me anything new! Toyota is huge and has many subsidiaries. Some people don't even realize they own a large portion of Subaru's parent company Fuji Heavy.

Diehard Covette fans won't care since they would buy the manual transmission anyway.

Large part is kinda relativa. Toyota simply bought GM's share in the 2008 debacle, it's around 20-40% the last time I checked.

Toyota owns less than 20% actually (16+%) of Fuji Heavy Industries, parent of Subaru.
