C7 Corvette could get Aisin 8-speed transmission because GM's own 'box isn't ready

I say make'm all manual transmission until a DCT is ready (I didn't know GM built any of their own tranny's).

Well again no ones really questions the the Mazda though. In fact the relationship between Ford and Mazda, it makes sense. The Vette however is an icon and purists will cry foul

Aisin is in the Toyota family of companies. Toyota develops most (if not all) of their transmissions with Aisin (even if Toyota later builds the transmissions themselves). The Corvette's new 8-speed transmission is likely the 8-speed transmission used in Lexus models.
As spwolf said, if Porsche can have an Aisin transaxle, why can't Corvette use a Lexus transmission made by Aisin?

Large part is kinda relativa. Toyota simply bought GM's share in the 2008 debacle, it's around 20-40% the last time I checked.
