Saleen 351 announced with 700 HP

With Steve Saleen back at the helm of his namesake automaker, another recognizable name is reappearing in the Saleen sports car lineup. As previewed by the above rendering at the LA Auto Show, the Saleen 351 returns after a 13-year absence with 700 horsepower under the hood – take that Shelby GT500.

That much horsepower is brought to you by a 351-cubic-inch (hence the name) supercharged V8 that also pumps out 655 pound-feet of torque. Power is laid down through a six-speed manual gearbox with a performance clutch and a 3.73 rear axle ratio. The brakes have been upgraded with 15-inch disks for improved stopping performance, too.

For styling, Saleen gave the car carbon fiber front and rear splitters, staggered-width 20-inch wheels, a functional butterfly hood scoop and what it refers to as an "F1-style tail lamp." Strangely, the tuning house didn't actually bring the 351 to the LA show, so we're going to have to wait a bit for more images of this bad boy. Pricing and release date have not been announced yet, either.

Yeah i wonder how reliable that is? I guess im one of the few that dislike the styling of the mustang i dont find them appealing at all. I like the 1st generations from 1964–1973 after that it went down hill as far as looks go imo.

What does that matter. I don't think any one knows let alone high powered 911's, ZR1's etc.. you don't typically daily a car like this or of that caliber, and have a "beater" for that reason

thats like saying "How wonder how reliable Lexus is" Really?.. Every car has its hiccups whether it costs 20k or 200k.. The mustangs are built and made to be driven. I had zero issues with my 87 and 95 mustang GT's.. The 95 went to 150k miles and ran perfect. I only sold it because i inherited another vehicle..

every car on the road is a gamble about reliability...

isnt this just the a bigger more powerful engine in the same body as the GT?

i heard many bad things about a certain year but not sure if its this one. Due to things like (stock GT brakes, stock etc.)

Matters alot actually, why have so many horses without the reliabilty? I sure wouldnt, there are tons of people who daily 911s and Zr1s. Why even buy? for a garage queen? To drive a beater? No thanks for those that want to and spend the cash, go right ahead.

Lexas has the repuation of being reliable, come on now you guys should know this being the owners of them. 150k? considered high on a ford? thats barely braking it in for a Lexus.
"Mustangs are built and made to be driven" ? Seriously? There is a reason why FORD has the meaning of "Fix Or Repair Daily" and "Found On Road Dead"

Ford isnt the best when comes to reliabilty period.

I had 150k miles on the mustang not Lexus... The old 5.0 blocks were bullet proof IMO...

Tons of ZR1's, I think not. Lower end 911's sure (which CR rates Porsche pretty decently) but not GT2's GT3's etc.
