Despite its substantial functionality, the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo has been an utter sales flop here on our shores – so much so that the Germans have reportedly been rethinking the decision to not offer the 5 Series Touring in the States. So forgive us, then, for questioning the motives behind this new GT version of the smaller 3 Series, which will arrive in the US this summer in both 328i and 335i variants.
Nevertheless, the 3 Series GT makes its official debut here at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, and despite its focus on rakishness (or something), it's actually more functional and spacious than the 3 Series Sport Wagon. That's right – thanks to an extra 4.3 inches of wheelbase, 7.9 inches of length and 3.2 inches of height, the 3GT offers more space for rear passengers and one more cubic foot of storage overall.
Engine choices are unchanged from the 3 Series sedan, with the 328i getting a 240-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo-four and the 335i utilizing a 300-horsepower turbo-six. Pricing will be announced closer to the car's on-sale date this summer.

Amazing how Audi and Aston Martin can make that 5 door, fastback shape look so damn awesome.

Yet BMW can **** it up so bad. Other than the 3 series and X5, every BMW since about 2001 has been hidieous IMO.

Aston martin on the other hand, yes the Rapide is a beautiful car.
As for BMW, and their 3GT, it's not as bad as it's big brother, but then again, that isn't too strong of a compliment.
Now all we need to see is a 7GT, since BMW and Merc are bent on flooding the market with as many different models as possible.

1. BMW's mission with these GT models is not the same as Aston and Audi. BMW is trying to not only make a significant increase in luggage capacity but also greatly improve rear seat room, hence why the 3GT is based on the Chinese long-wheelbase F30. The end result is ugly in my eyes, but they weren't trying to be a style queen like the A7 and Rapide. The stylish model is for BMW is the 6GC.
2. The Rapide is irrelevant in this conversation because its back seats are minuscule and borderline unusable for taller occupants if the front seat passenger is also above average height.
3. Every BMW since 2001 is hideous? If you can call the current F10 and F01 hideous then...you are quite the special person.
I'm not a fan of these GT models AT ALL, but honestly...

Just goes to show that we all have our own opinions and perceptions.
Personally, I think the X5 is the 4th best in the class aesthetically...lol...while I'm pretty happy with our F02, but know it lacks the panache of the S-class (though I'll take the driving dynamics all day, every day over the S550
