I think they are insane and are going to confuse everyone and give up strong and hard earned brand equity.
Basically all sedans will begin with Q, and all SUVs with Qx. Not clear how it will address differences in engine size.

Holy Infiniti Q Batman...
That will confuse everyone and lose brand equity with the M, G, FX, EX and JX.

Kind of like Volvo.. S40-60-80 for the Sedans... XC60-70-90. Numbers don't relate to engine size
But they're giving up a lot of marketability and imagery that the G has built since the 03 RWD G35 was introduced.

I guess Infiniti is just following what Audi is implementing as far as the nomenclature goes. For Audi, almost all the car uses the letter "A" and all the SUV/crossover use the letter "Q", and the number/numbers following the letter indicates the pecking order in the family. Now Infiniti uses "Q" and "QX". But I think it is a bad and unnecessary action.

Infiniti is confusing as heck, just like Acura. Lexus has always done the tried and true method of using dual alpha and three numerics, to describe the overall nature of the vehicle, followed by the body style (coupe, sedan, cross etc) and then engine size in liters X 100.
Acura has named their cars "legend" "vigor" and them switched to 3.2 TL, 3.5 RL, and more recently dropped the engine displacement, it's all over the map.
Infiniti at least has stayed with alpha numerics... But naming all sedans with the same letter is way too similar. I call bad idea.
