CRAZY!
Piloted Parking allows a driver to drop themselves off and have the car autonomously drive away on its own and find its own parking spot. The car can then later be retrieved by "calling" it back with a specially designed smartphone app.

Nice idea, but I see WAY too many problems with this. Extreme slow speed will cause gridlock of manned vehicles in the structure. It finds a parking spot when the garage is 10% filled - what about the times when it's 99% filled? How will it behave at toll gates? Is it aware of traffic, or pedestrians? I can't help thinking about those self-driving cars and trucks that DARPA tested a few years ago, wandering off on their own and falling into ditches. No, maybe something for your great grandchildren, but not for this generation.

Way easier said than done. Google's self driving cars have endless numbers of sensors. Even with all of that, they're primarily staying on highways instead of pedestrian congested areas (although it does work on the Vegas strip http://www.pcworld.com/article/25520...a_streets.html). I can see parking ramps throwing everything off kilter too. Just park your own car, or at least find the spot yourself, then let it park if you suck at it (someone like this lady
).
Plus, if you have the money to afford a car that has a feature like that, do you really want it parking itself next to the SUV it chose?

Hey, it made the decision to park there, it cost you a ticket and a towing charge. Maybe sentencing your new Audi to 90 days of Pep Boys oil changes, a couple of recap tires, and a machine wash would be adequate disincentive for it to make such stupid decisions in the future.
