As is, I don't think this would sell well at all. The feminine rear clashes with the sleek front, and it's caught between the look of a hatchback and coupe in back. The U.S. does not like cars that are not easy to discern at first glance, nor do they like cars that don't fit into an obvious category. See Malibu Maxx for details. The Corolla would need to have a formal/traditional coupe look (like the current Civic Coupe, Kia Forte Koup, Audi A5) or extend the rear roof out to the end of the body and chop it off like the iconic 1990's Honda Civic hatchback. Too much Malibu Maxx and AMC Pacer in back.
In fact, this is how Cruze Hatchback looked in Europe and it was cancelled after 2 years I think because nobody bought it.

It should have been called that from the start. The auto press and people misidentify it from market to market. Ah, the confusion. For example Autoblog consistently calls the JDM Toyota 86 by its European name GT 86. Long live the Celica...

Pissing Contest Continues with Toyota Stating that Corolla is the World's Best Seller
If you're weren't expecting Toyota's response to Ford's claims that the Focus was the best-selling nameplate in 2013 with 1,097,618 deliveries, then you obviously haven't been following the pissing contest between two of the world's largest automakers – the same thing happened last October.
Toyota issued a statement in which it says, the Corolla achieved global sales of 1.22 million units in 2013, "according to the company’s internal data based on individual vehicle sales reporting from its distributors".
Since Ford sourced its numbers through an analysis of Polk new vehicle registration data from IHS Automotive "which captures 96 percent of global new vehicle volumes", Toyota did that too and it came out in front again with global registrations of 1,098,524 million units.
Toyota provided a few more details on which cars these numbers include:
"This figure includes Corolla sedan and other variations in name such as Corolla Axio, Corolla Altis and Corolla EX 4-door sedans," said Toyota in a statement. "The subscripts “Axio” “Altis” and “EX” denote trim levels of the 4-door Corolla sedan sold in various global regions, including Japan. Also included are the Corolla-badged Fielder and Rumion 5-door wagons.
"Based on Toyota’s analysis, various competitive claims based on “single nameplate” registrations may have excluded data for Corolla Axio, Corolla Altis, Corolla EX, Corolla Fielder and Corolla Rumion, which are identified and marketed as Corolla sedans and wagons," said Toyota.

bringing cheap and nasty looking to new lows.
prefer this:
and yeah, before it's posted, i know the corolla sells quicker than free hotdogs at a ball park, but that doesn't make a hotdog gourmet food.

I dont think Corolla looks bad at all, and interior is nice as well.
It is not a Lexus, but it is a nice car.

I think we all know the Corolla won't be a style standard but it's a ton better than before inside and out.
Sorry it doesn't look amazing like a JETTA lol
