I really REALLY hope that 4-speed rumor is false. I will enleash a HUGE amount of hate at Toyota dealerships and to Toyota corporate if they stick with a 4 speed for the new Corolla. I don't care what the reasoning would be, but it would simply be UNACCEPTABLE.
might be a tad of an overreaction as the rumor is the 4 speed is only on the base model. toyota does sell cars throughout the world and maybe the few hundred $ they'd save on that base model with the 4 speed matters in some competitive (lower income per capita) markets.
i don't see it as a big deal, UNLESS a 4 speed were the ONLY transmission they offered.
I view the 4-speed auto like I do VW's offering of the ancient 2.0L I4 in the most basic Jetta. Very few people actually buy that model so no harm done.
That Blue is a nice color and the tail-light does indeed resemble the Furia. I'm looking forward to this - it could either be a huge hit or just a huge let down.

Yeah, but if you're first experience is with a 2.0 Jetta you're going to write off the whole car. Same could happen here and really, there is no excuse for Toyota not to have the same tranny in all the models.
Full views of the original leaked images. We will have to wait to see if this turns out to be it (maybe this is a foreign market version). I know the latest teaser seems to conflict.
