Good looking car but horrendous name. Too many modern establishments with that. That's why it's not the MBZ NCAA

They should call it the Mercedes Benz Flagship Coupe "more than you can afford pal"

lol my father had an SEC500. that was...interesting. Electronics were the only things that went dead by the time we got rid of the car a few years ago

You're right about that, but actually the S-Class coupe moniker still was used since its introduction in 1981 and the name "S-Class" or Sonderklasse since 1972. Only circa late 1992/early 1993 did Mercedes-Benz rename all their models and make it official in mid-1993. Some prototypes of 1995-1996 models were shown in 1992 to have the old naming scheme of ###XX(500SEC).

I also feel as though that actually was inspired by the Lexus naming scheme introduced 4 years prior: X### or XX###, 1993 SC300 vs. 1993 300SL, 1994 SC300 vs. 1994 SL320. Then again, they hypothesized this even earlier in January 1990 with a "600S" instead of "600SEC" designation for the V12. The Lexus format was more simple or easier to read.

It looks ugly to me. The current CL, the W215, and the 90's S Coupe were awesome. The new front ends on these Mercedes look so ugly.

First Photo of the New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe

Not straying from the realm of the known facts, we eventually found out that it was the new S-Class Coupe displayed at the annual Daimler meeting held in Stuttgart last week, and now, the first official shot of the car has broken cover.

Looks good to me. Though interior space for such a large coupe looks to be on the smaller side. It's probably much larger in real life than pictures depict it to be. A grand coupe forsure though

I like the shark nose. As much as I liked the more upright nature of previous Benz coupes, I guess it was time for a change as the CL sales were dwindling to extremely low numbers. This change does make sense when you look at the relatively sleek Continental GT.

That pic looks like it's hinting at SLS-style tails?
