McLaren P1 Rumored to Lap ‘Ring’ Well Under 6:47
Porsche wowed the automotive world last September when its said said the 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid supercar lapped the Nurburgring in six minutes and 57 seconds.
At the time, that lap crushed previous production car records. None of that matters if a rumor being perpetuated in a first drive review of the McLaren P1 proves to be true. U.K.-based AutoCar claims to have spoken with an “insider” who says the car can complete the Nordschleife circuit faster than the supposed six minute and 47 second time Internet gossip already suggests. The story says it can lap the oft-hyped track in somewhere around six minutes and 30 seconds.
McLaren hasn’t confirmed any of that and isn’t likely to any time soon. The company won’t even commit to the slower time.

McLaren insider says P1 lapped the ‘Ring in about 6m 30sec - report
Previous rumors suggested 6m 47s
Autocar is citing a McLaren insider who said the P1 can complete a lap of the Nürburgring in around 6 minutes and 30 seconds.
Towards the end of last year we heard rumors about the McLaren P1 running the 'Ring in 6 minutes and 47 seconds. The British marque even released a video with the supercar tackling the Nordschleife but they didn't disclose a lap time. Now, a source within the company has told Autocar the P1 is "a fair bit quicker than that" and can do the task in "six minutes 30 something."
The British magazine labels the P1 as the current king of the 'Ring, but could be dethroned in the near future by the LaFerrari. At this moment only Porsche has official disclosed a lap time for its latest supercar, the 918 Spyder, which managed to run the Nürburgring in 6 minutes and 57 seconds and is now the fastest car around the German track to have global road homologation.
Confirmed facts beat rumors so the 918 Spyder is currently the de facto 'Ring leader.

^Those two articles say the exact same thing. Why bother posting both when one suffices? Anyways...
