Give it time. $1,400 is significantly down from where the S Class was when it first came out (more like $1,700). When the car hasn't even made it to dealers is not the time to start looking at a lease.
$990 is a good payment on the A8L...when I was shopping in May they were more like $1,200.

After driving 2 F01 750 for 3 years, it shows max range at 430 at fill up while typically gets 300 per tank with 60% of highway driving. If I drive highway only I can get close to 500 but never even close to 600 lol. They must increase the tank capacity by a lot.
Btw, I can get around 260-270 now with my M which takes the same amount of gas.

Saw and sat in a new BMW 750i today...
I was near the auto park today in between appointments and decided to drive through and take a peek at some stuff. Stopped by the BMW dealer and they had a couple of new 2016 750s, one of which was in the showroom and I got to sit in it and play around with it for a little while.
It was a very nice metallic blue with the flaxen-like interior, quilted leather, this car had the M Sport package with the gloss black exterior trim, very sharp. Overall I like the car, the exterior is a little bland, it didn't grab me the way say an S550 does, inside the car is very nice. Everything is a TFT display, full TFT gauges, even the readout for the climate control is one TFT screen with a background, etc. Materials were all first rate, great seats (multi-contour, I miss them from my GS), very nice leather. Sticker price on this car was right at $110,000.
I did not drive one, but I would be interested to. The doors felt surprisingly light, which at first felt a little insubstantial to me but then I remembered the extensive use of aluminum and carbon fibre in this car to save weight.
All in all, I was kind of underwhelmed. For $110k vs this car I would certainly be in an S550. While it certainly was more car than my LS, I don't know that I felt it was $30,000 more car. On top of being an incredibly well built car the S Class makes a statement going down the road, theres an intangibility there that if you asked me "is this car worth $30,000 more than the LS" I would answer yes...but I don't feel the new 7 makes any sort of statement I'm not already making for $30k less.
Thoughts?

BMW and Uber teamed up together to show the new 7 series in Chicago. I didn't experience it first hand but I did see one in the loop. It looks very nice, its a better can than the predecessor but its not as good as the S class. The 740i will help sales as a lot of them are fleet sales.

SW15LS, I have the exact same thoughts as you. People will buy the 7-series because they will appreciate the more intense focus on technology, enjoy a more sporting drive, and are fans of the BMW's contemporary interior. That's not me when it comes to this class of car. I'm wondering if the next Audi A8 will beat BMW at its own game though; the A8 has been delayed several times as they push for excellence.
