Skip the 6speed forum unless you are into bling & go to Rennlist. Single best thing you can do is find the best shop for the PPI after you have agreed on price pending a good PPI report. This shop should have no connection to the selling dealer. I forecast heavy depreciation of the 2005-2008 987 & 997 due to the release of new redesign vehicles & IMS issues.

Just to close the loop on the IMS issues - it appears that Porsche has just settled a class action suit in the US that should help in relation to IMS failures past and present.
