ClubLexus First Drive: 2013 LS460 F Sport AWD

Pole Position
My father has a 2013 (not F sport...just the "mere" base car). The only way there are 3000 new parts is if they count the hash marks on the speedometer. It's the same car (as the 2007-12). I have no problem with Lexus updating/improving the LS, but they're trying to sell it as more of a different car than it really is.

Unless I missed it, there no mention of seat comfort. So the questions is: How would I feel after 16 hours in that car?
The only reason I dropped the idea of buying an XJR are those idiotic bolsters. To give an American driver bolsters in a car like this so he can "throw" it around makes as much sense as adding rollover bars for that "spirited" driving I read about in the tire reviews on the Tire Rack website. IMO, if you need bolsters, you are going too fast for the conditions.
The metal pedals fall into the same category. How am I better off with the metal? Or is it just a gimmick that is supposed to make a 65-year buyer who is going through his second middle-life crisis feel young again?
Some wheels are painful to look at. Typically, those would be the wheels where the spokes' center line does not go through the center of the wheel. These wheels are close to the point of visual pain.

Lexus usually has very wide seats, bolsters should be fine.

Lexus is really dropping the ball relaying the message. Great car but the asking price is adventurous and it needs 400+ hp, period. 90k opens a huge door to a lot of cars.
In a few cities best areas I have literally seen maybe 3-4 tops and one F-sport. I have having the worst time trying to find a "lowered" one. The front end is amazing but the rest of the vehicle simply is hard to match it...and the F-sport is only available in SWB here and no hybrid either. In my eyes the LWB LS looks better.
The Germans have offered 6 cylinders for awhile now and its working and hasn't done a damn thing to hurt image here.

Overall, it is a nice refresh, but the competition is still running circles around the LS, especially in the performance department.
Audi A8 4.0T 420hp 444lbft
MBZ S550 4.6T 429hp 515lbft
BMW 750i 4.4T 445hp 480lbft
Lexus LS460 4.6 NA 386hp 367lbft
The lack of adjustable side bolsters like those found in the GS also bothers me
Actually even the RX offers HUD :/

But there are also missing features that I wish should be included in this flagship. My biggest complaint is the lack of HUD (head-up display). With both competitors offering it and even the new GS has that option, this is a pretty big shortcoming. On the other hand, the GS offer more seat adjustments especially on the bolsters, something a bigger car like the LS460 F Sport can benefit from.
