Default Time to buy another car...your thoughts?

It's that time again to scratch that itch for a new car. Would like to spend around $40k tops, but can be flexible if its' the right vehicle. Priorities are handingly (RWD a must), power, reliability, and refinement albeit not exactly in that order. I was looking for a NA2 2002+ NSX but they're all around $60-70k still, so that seems to be out of the picture and low mileage 97-2001 are still hard to find, so I've expanded my scope of cars. I prefer bigger coupes (which is my only hesitation with the Cayman), but 4 doors are okay as well. Let me know if I've missed something on the ones below!

- 2009 Infiniti G37s Coupe (~$25k) : Cheap, reliable, and still sport fiting of Skyline lineage. Could afford to mod it quite a bit with SC and stuff at this price.

- 2009 Porsche Cayman S PDK (~$40k): Hardest part thus far is finding one as the older ones are running around $30k with low mileage. Still concerned a little about reliability, but this is my preference thus far.

- E90 335i (~$30k): Never owned a Bimmer, and this one parallels my old Supra Twin Turbos a lot. Not sure if N54 vs N55 years are better and if/when the fuel pump issues were fixed (if ever).

- F30 328i (~$40k): Ya, it seems kinda of a downgrade from the E90s, but the N20 is supposed to be a gem of an engine and matches perfectly with the F30 chassis. And my wife likes it as well as a +.

- Huyndai Genesis 2.0T RSpec (~$27k): Wasn't really feeling this car when I test drove it, but still under consideration due to the low price.

Cayman S gets my vote...don't hold your breathe for F/I for the FRS/BRZ...if the STi comes I'm hearing 250hp N/A...I've looked at the aftermarket and there are a lot of F/I options for the car...

G37 aged very well

Gen is a great car for the price and you can get it new

The BMWs clearly have tons of mod potential and are very popular

Good luck

Talking

Winter season is somewhat over so go back on nsxprime and start shopping

Nothing wrong with a 95-96 if you still want the t-top, about 8-10k cheaper than the na2.

Once you get an nsx, you'll kick yourself for even listing those other cars in your shopping list

Maybe I'm getting a little older or just modded out too many things in my life (500hp Supra TTs / 600hp Evos / 300hps S13 Sylvias / etc.), but i'm not going to realistic mod much if anything. That sucks about the FRS/BRZ though....that chassis has so much potential!

Anyone know the reliability records on the G37s?

When I was in my early 20's I owned 2 SUpra TTs and mocked the NSX as Not So Exotic (because of its slow straightline performance), but over time (and ownership of a ton of cars), have really come to appreciate it. I'm kicking myself for not picking one up in 2001-2002 instead of my LS430 now... heck, I even recently had a chance to pick up a Zinardi NSX for around $35k, but didn't bite...sigh!

But ya, I've thought about a 97 NSX though with the 3.2L, but those are still quite $$ and also very rare =/

An na1 is more than enough for everyday purposes.

I was on the hunt for an na2, but ended up with an na1.......no regrets at all.

zinardi for 35k?!?!?!?! it had ultra high mileage? that's very cheap for that car!!!!!!

if you are willing to stay around 50-60k miles, you should be able to find decent 02+ in the 50s?

Yeah Zanardi for $35k...........must be either 200k+ miles or salvage title.

I think it was Zinardi #16 with around 93k miles, supposedly was previously abused. By the time I got to the lot to check it out it was sold. About a month later, it appeared on Craigslist with the glass broken, and damage to rear fenders (supposedly someone beat it with a baseball bat). Nevertheless, I should of acted sooner on it....
