Looking forward to a new Highlander! I really like the current generation but can't believe that Toyota left the 5AT in there the entire time.
Toyota needs to move to at least 6ATs and probably 7/8ATs in the next few years.

Drove the current one, it's very nice aside from poor rear visibility from the huge d pillars. Smooth ride. Will probably have an extra gear in the transmission and they may eliminate the four cylinder option, which has no place in a vehicle that heavy. Also, standard or optional led tail lights.

I expect it to be a little bit longer to help with 3rd row room, and perhaps some sliver of space behind the third row for potential small bags. And a much improved interior like we've seen in Avalon. Along with the 6AT V6 combo.

Biggest upgrades need to be inside the cabin, with all the latest features. Avalon-class interior would be nice. This is probably my next vehicle. I hope they don't cheap out on plastics the way they did with Sienna.

We needed a new ride for the wife (finally no more minivan!) and she loved the Highlander. I had heard there was a redesign coming but we had to replace the van now. Got a 2012 leftover for an unreal deal. we did drive a 2013 but the nav screen was so small she hated it. Agree that new headlight design looks great.

I'm looking forward to seeing it at the NY Auto Show first week of April.
Down the road looking into getting a Jeep Cherokee Limited or Overland or now maybe a Highlander depending on the new design.

"For years"? The Avalon and Highlander did not exist before the Camry was introduced, and they have ALWAYS been based on the Camry. The Camry platform may have been lengthened and widened (the Avalon has always been longer and wider than the Camry), but the Highlander, Avalon, Venza, and Lexus RX and ES have always been built on a Camry platform, even the latest models.
