Question Low mile loaded LS400 vs. 100k+ mile base LS430?

1999 or 2000 LS400 40-70k miles w/ Nakamichi sound, sunroof, chrome wheels, etc.. loaded.

vs 2002-2004 LS430 90k-140k miles Base, no extra options.

They're both around $10,000-14,000

What would be the better choice?

I like how they both look, so styling isn't a primary concern.

I'm looking mainly for reliability & being able to fix it myself if I need to (I am not mechanically skilled, but I don't mind learning as I go).

I can afford a mechanic if I need to, but I'm not rolling in dough so I'd rather not if I don't have to.

I've mainly been looking at CraigsList & Autotrader. Anyone know any other good places to look for used cars?

LS400.

My previous assistant had one.

They're smooth and easy to maintain.

Less miles is a plus. They'll last a very long time.

Just get it inspected. You don't know what they've got until a professional has thoroughly examined it.

The 400 is a great deal BUT I have read in the past that the LS430 ( and SC430 ) are the most reliable cars ever evaluated by JD power

Just avoid any model with the air suspension option. The conventional steel coil springs and shocks ride amazing on the LS400
