Do you prefer a car or truck?

I prefer the superior handling of a car. Plus they're usually faster while being a LOT better on gas.
That being said, I always have had a soft spot for the pickup truck. Large or small, I like them both, as long as it isn't one of those silly crew cabs with a useless 5' bed. I don't think I could ever spend the the $$$$ on a newer one, as I see them as a tool, not some sort of status symbol. Plus there is a certain release about driving a junky old truck that you don't care about, if you dent it, scratch it, or slide off the road in a snow storm, it doesn't really matter.

Well, that's just it, Paul.....and, to some extent, the main reason for the thread. SUVs come in both car-based unibody and truck-based body-on-frame. Take your own Ford Explorer, for instance. It was a truck-based SUV for over two decades, but is now unibody car-based. The Nissan Pathfinder has an even more interesting history. Like the original Toyota 4-Runner, it started out as a pickup truck with a box-shell on it. But then, it then converted to unibody, then converted back to body-on-frame, and now, on the latest one that shares its design with the infiniti JX35, has converted back, once again, to unibody.....this time probably for good.

I voted car only because I've never owned a truck or a truck based SUV. If I could afford, I wouldn't mind trying a truck, but it has to come in manual transmission. It's sad that many of them come only in automatic.

I love riding in trucks(don't care for lifts though). Makes visibility over other cars much better. Especially here where everybody parks in the red zones.

I love sports car but if I had to own just one vehicle, it'd have to be a truck. It can haul, tow, drive through more rugged terrains, a great cruiser while still carrying 5-6 people with the right truck of course. However, the only downfall is always the gas mileage and sometimes parking.
I bought a first gen tundra a few years back and have upgraded to a 2013 Tundra. A sports car feels great on the tracks but a truck feels best on a dirt road.

I live off some real twisty roads and I love throwing a vehicle into curves, and I've owned more than 10 Miatas - so of course I'm gonna say car is my first choice, but trucks certainly have their place. This is my current truck, and while not fun on a curvy road, it's fantastic at everything else....
