Default Do you prefer a car or truck?

A truck, truck frame based SUV, etc or a car?

I've always liked trucks better, no contest.

How about you?

I learned how to drive on utes, so I have a soft spot for them. I have an IS and an Explorer, and both serve me well. I don't have a preference really. Obviously the Lexus is nicer, but the Explorer is more capable.

BIG truck or SMALL car

I like trucks like the LX and Tundra, and small cars like the IS, FRS, etc

I used to be a car-only fan and hated SUVs. Then I bought my FJ and my dad bought an Explorer. Now i love both. For a daily driver if i only could have one, I would pick a truck, body on frame. So capable and practical.

I am a car person through & through. Even though the road presence due to sheer size is nice, I always find myself longing to be back in a car after I've been in a truck or suv for any length of time. That coupled with exceptional ground clearance & a good firm bumper makes me more inclined to go over or through things when in a truck. Honestly that's why my sister exclusively drives full size suv's. I do have a soft spot for modified soft top h1 turbodiesels and the International CXT & circumstances permitting I would own both - however my heart lies with low slung, agile coupes.

I grew up in a family that owned both cars and full-size(not tundras, those don't count in my book) pickups. A pick-up was a nigh daily necessity in our family, and so I feel like eventually I will always own one.

Given the vast number of crossover/unibody vehicles in today's market (Cute-Utes, Outbacks, raised AWD wagons, Honda Ridgeline, etc.....) that straddle the line between cars and trucks, I'd consider rephrasing the title, O.L.T. , and use unibody/car-based vs. traditional full-frame. With the demise of the Town Car/Crown Vic/Grand Marquis a couple of years ago, there are no longer any new body-on-frame cars left in the American market. And, with the exception of the Honda Ridgeline (which uses a unique combination of unibody and lower-frame, all American-market pickups are full-rail-frame with a separate body.

However, unlike pickup trucks, not all large SUVs are full-frame. The big full-size GM and Ford SUVs still are, but a number of the others (surprisingly, including Range-Rovers, are unibody.

To directly answer your first question, though, my opinion is (and I think that most would agree) is that, all else equal, body-on-frame designs are better for towing, carrying heavy loads, off-roading, and ease of accident-repair, while unibodies are better for on-road driving dynamics, lighter vehicle weights, freedom from potential squeaks/rattles, and fuel-mileage.

I was very clear about what I wanted to know. Either a truck based frame vehicle or a car which is a unibody.

Anything that doesn't have a truck based frame is a car with big wheels.

OK....then, in that sense, a simple answer...............Unibody car-frame for most driving; ladder truck-frame for harder work.

I definitely prefer a car, & a small one at that. They're just much more enjoyable to drive daily. I do like trucks, & they have a definite purpose, but 50+ miles/day carrying only me on interstate is pointless in a truck. When I have the space, I'll have an old pickup for hauling things, but that's it. I'd be on a bike if I didn't already know how bad I am at riding them. I have no use for these car-based SUVs that are currently flooding the market. As best I can tell, they're minivans without the benefit of sliding rear doors & easily removable back seats.

Never owned a truck but I've always considered getting one just to try something different. Like maybe an Escalade or Yukon. But with gas prices steadily increasing, I never made the jump.

I enjoy the useability of a truck but i much prefer the driving experience of a small car, be it in a daily driver or a track monster.

And I think a modded car will always look better than a modded truck

You mean unibody minivan looking SUV's? Me too.

I want a tough SUV first, car second.
