From current reviews, the Cayman is now the pick of the litter in Porsche's lineup when it comes to an actual driver's car.

Cayman has been this for years. In fact it's said that they had to detune the Cayman in most performance/handling categories because it was better than the 911 when it debuted

My pick would be:

XKR-S
911
...
...
...
...
M6
SL 63

...in that order. As much respect as I have for AMG products, the new SL is just butt ugly. It looks like a Solara with a swollen head and big eyes. M6 is just not interesting to me at all - overweight and not engaging.

correct, the cayman has been beating the 911 since almost day 1. porsche was pretty much at a very weird situation where they had to detune the cayman just so they "maintain" the 911 status

but then again that's the thing, 911 has status to it, and big part why i like the car. it's not an easy car to drive too given its weight distribution.

but still, i want to own 911

Modern 911 are easy to drive now.

I always wanted a 911 too, but now that I really care about sounds, that flat 6 sounds like crap, sounds even worst then the cheap 4.3L V8 in my Toyotas.

That article indicated even the M6 don't handle well.

I'd pick the 911 first, then the Jag. All of these cars are more than you can ever use on the street, might as well go with the emotional choice first, and the best looking one second!

I have warmed up a bit to the SL's look, but still dislike the nose, I think it looks decent in white, I will only take it in white. I still think it's the best choice overall among these convertibles. As for the 911, I only desire the coupe.

I just drove my friend's 997.2 GT3, it aren't hard, and I got no skills

Sure the rear weight bias makes it not as easy to drive as front engine car, but it is not crazy scary snap oversteer of the 930 and 964 from 30 years ago.

It is just getting easier and easier as Porsche quietly moving the engine forward in every generation

You back to reading C&D now, Mike? I thought you had sworn them off.

I didn't shead any tears when Brock Yates left (I thought he was just a blowhard) but the magazine clearly sagged, and was just never the same, after Patrick Bedard retired and Csaba Csede's reign as EIC was over.

I HATED Brock Yates. He tried too hard. In general, I think C&D has rebounded and has found its groove. There were some dark times in years past for sure, especially after Csaba left. I'm glad they covered up the hideous mess left by that crazy redesign with the yellow everywhere.
