Default Adapt or Perish: All-New Turbo Engine Confirmed for Sub-GT3 2016 Porsche 911 Models

Porsche has announced that the turbocharger will be offered among the mainstream models of the next-generation 911 and will no longer be exclusive to the iconic 911 Turbo and GT2 halo cars. Chief of engineering Wolfgang Hatz confirmed that there will be boost for the great Porsche multitude during the Detroit Auto Show.

"You have to respect legal requirements [for lower CO2], so yes we're thinking turbos for standard 911s. You can't afford to keep an engine for 10 years any more," Hatz explained to Top Gear.

"Emissions are important for us," Hatz continued. "And we will reduce faster than the industry. Every new model will have lower CO2 than before. There aren't so many technologies to do it. If you look at euro per g/km then it's turbo. Then at the end of the decade electrification has to be the next huge step."

When asked whether Hatz is suggesting hybrid technology, Hatz confirmed with a "Yes." We are sure that Hatz's answer isn't exactly welcomed news for most Porsche purists. That said, given what has been achieved with the Porsche 918 Spyder, Porsche is confident that the overall Porsche customer base will embrace a 911 hybrid model.

Earlier this month, Porsche confirmed that the upcoming 911 GT3 RS hardcore track model will introduce an all-new naturally aspirated engine. According to Hatz, the sub-GT3 2016 Porsche 911 models will receive a turbocharged variant of the GT3 RS engine that is tuned to be slightly down on power.

Additional future Porsche models will include the next-generation Cayenne SUV and Panamera four-door. Hatz noted that the new cars will be even lighter. In fact, The base Cayenne V6 has set a sub-4400 lbs weight loss goal. In addition, Porsche is also working on an all-new V8 for both models.

Finally, the highly anticipated Porsche Cayman GT4 will arrive later this year. The ultimate Cayman will boast 400 bhp and will also be significantly lighter than the standard model. Porsche promises the new GT4 will be even more hardcore and sharp edged than the highly acclaimed Cayman R.

Stay tuned to learn more about the latest Porsche models in the weeks ahead of the Geneva Auto Show in March.

Very sad that all NA engines will be gone in next 5years........Porsche, Ferrari already confirmed.

The NA V8 engines in the Mustang GT/GT350, Corvette, Hemi and RCF/GSF are really the last ones still left.
My plan is to get one of those before they go out of production.

Default New Limited Edition Porsche 911 GTS Club Coupe Only for U.S.

Click here to view more photos

In celebration of the Porsche Club of America's 60th anniversary, Stuttgart has released a limited edition 911 model named the GTS Club Coupe, exclusively for the USA.

Priced from $136,060, not including a destination charge of $995, the GTS Club Coupe carries a $20,865 premium over the regular, rear-wheel drive GTS upon which it is based sharing the same 424hp (430PS) 3.8-liter flat-six that can be paired to a standard 7sp manual or the optional 7sp dual-clutch PDK transmission.

Only 60 units of the limited edition model will be made, with Porsche Club of America (PCA) members having the opportunity to purchase one of 59 vehicles and win the initial display model through a competition on www.pca.org, details of which will be announced on February 1, 2015.

The Club Coupe is painted in a unique “Club Blau” color created specifically for this edition, and features a number of upgrades, including the SportDesign package that adds a more pronounced front fascia, different side mirrors, a “ducktail” rear spoiler and 20-inch Sport Classic wheels finished in semi-gloss black with polished centers.

Black framed Bi-Xenon headlights with Porsche’s Dynamic Light System, and taillights tinted in black are standard too.

On the inside, there's Carmine Red stitching on the seats, door panels, seat-belts, steering wheel (which also gets a Red 12 o’clock marker) and dashboard, new carbon fiber trims and “GTS Club Coupe” model designations on the door sills. Additionally, the center compartment lid is embossed with a “60” and the dashboard trim is personalized with “GTS Club Coupe 60 Years Porsche Club of America” lettering above the glove compartment.

If you want to dig a little deeper into your pockets, Porsche offers an optional individual personalized car cover and an Extended Club Coupe Package that includes a vehicle key painted in “Club Blau,” a leather key pouch and leather-edged floor mats, both with two-tone stitching in Carmine Red and Blue.

Default Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S receive power bumps from Maxi-Tuner

Click here to view more photos

Turbo S now packs 635 HP

German aftermarket specialist Maxi-Tuner has launched a power boost program for the Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S (991 generation).

Developed for those who are hard to satisfy, the tuning program is addressed to the 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S which share a direct-injection, 3.8-liter six-cylinder engine. In its standard configuration, the engine delivers 520 HP (383 kW) and 660 Nm (710 Nm with overboost) in the 911 Turbo and 560 HP (412 kW) and 700 Nm (750 Nm with overboost) in the 911 Turbo S.

It should be enough for most people but that hasn't stopped Maxi-Tuner from remapping the engine's ECU (€1,899) which boosted output further. After the software tweaks are implemented, the engine packs an extra 60 HP (44 kW) and 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) so it delivers 580 HP & 760 Nm in the 911 Turbo and 620 HP & 800 Nm in the 911 Turbo S.

Maxi-Tuner is also offering a custom stainless steel exhaust system (€1,990) which has been installed on the 911 Turbo S depicted in these images and has bumped output to a grand total of 635 HP (467 kW) and 864 Nm (637 lb-ft) of torque. They did a performance test and managed to run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds, making it 0.3s quicker than the 911 Turbo S with Sport Chrono Package. Top speed was also increased by 10 km/h (6.2 mph) to 328 km/h (203.81 mph).

Receives GT3 bumpers

Exclusive Motoring has prepared a tuning program for the Porsche 911 Carrera.

While the German manufacturer is busy working on a facelift for the model, tuners from Exclusive Motoring have introduced some design improvements for it. Their new kit includes 911 GT3 bumpers, gloss black painted roof and engine cover, as well as 911 Carrera badges for the lower part of the doors.

The biggest addition is a set of new 21- and 22-inch COR alloy wheels, finished in gloss red with yellow brake calipers.

Default Porsche Offering New Aerokit for 911 Turbo and Turbo S

Click here to view more photos

When Porsche calls something an Aerokit, you know it will have noticeable aero-improving effects on the car it’s fitted to. In the case of the 911 Turbo and Turbo S, two of the fastest Porsches ever, it adds downforce and promises increased stability, especially at high speed.

The German automaker says the Aerokit makes the Turbo and Turbo S generate 26 kilos (661 lbs) of downforce at 300 km/h (186mph), which is 9 kilos (20 lbs) more than stock in its “Speed” setting. Switch to “Performance” and you get 18 more kils for a grand total of 150 kg (331 lbs) at the aforementioned speed.

The kit can be had both in body color or high-gloss black and it will set you back €5,355 if you order it on a new car, or €4,879 if you opt to have it retrofitted by Porsche Tequipment. Warranty is obviously not affected in either case.

Default PP Performance-Tuned Porsche 991 Turbo Does 1/4 Mile in 9.9 Sec [w/Video]

Click here to view more photos

If you're a Porsche 911 Turbo (991-generation) owner with a curious case of speed-itis, PP-Performance has the fastest cure for you.

The treatment costs €11,999 or roughly US$13,600 at today's rates, and according to the German tuner, it includes "a Digital Racing Box, IPD intake plenum, 3-to-1 headers, downpipes, x-pipe and BMC high performance air filters".

PP-Performance promises an improvement of 150PS (148hp) and 160Nm (118 lb-ft), lifting the 991 Turbo's headline figures from 520PS and 660Nm to 670PS (661hp) and 820Nm (605 lb-ft) respectively.

As a result, the sprint time from zero to 100km/h (62mph) is reduced from 3.4 sec to 2.5 sec and to 200mph (124mph) from 11.1 sec to 8.2 sec, while the quarter mile run on the drag strip is completed in just 9.896 seconds.

Default Porsche 911 Targa Poses With Matte Bronze ADV.1 Wheels

Click here to view more photos

The 2014 Porsche 911 Targa is yet another example of a car that the camera absolutely loves. Of course, it never hurts to find a great location and catch the sun at just the right moment.

Caught wearing a set of ADV05|S M.V2 CS wheels (we know, they sound like a newly discovered galaxy cluster), measuring 20x9 at the front and 20x11 at the rear, this white 911 Targa 4S blends perfectly, almost poetically into the sunset.

The matte bronze twin five-spoke design offers a terrific contrast between the car itself and the gorgeous backdrop. Looking closer we notice the subtle wide-body kit with slight changes to the front spoiler as well as the rear diffuser.

All three versions of the Targa (the 4, 4S, GTS) are extremely capable sports cars. The Targa 4 features a 3.4 liter, 350 PS engine, whereas the 4S is powered by a 3.8 liter, 400 HP unit. The GTS uses the same engine, but puts down an extra 30 horses and it can reach 62 mph (100km/h) in just 4.3 seconds.

What we have here is a great looking car with an equally spectacular set of custom wheels.

Default Adidas Offering Porsche 911s with Cheetah Graphics to 3 Fastest NFL Combine Prospects

Click here to view more photos

Now that the NFL season is over and the New England Patriots have won the Super Bowl in dramatic fashion, it's time for football fans to take a step back and enjoy the upcoming Draft.

However, before we find out which prospects get drafted by which teams, the players have to take part in the NFL's Scouting Combine where teams get to measure their athleticism in all sorts of awesome ways in order to get a better idea about which players would help them the most.

This year, Adidas is launching their new 'Uncaged Adizero 5-Star 40' cleats with a real bang. Any player who chooses to wear these cleats during the NFL Combine has a chance at winning one of three custom Porsche 911 featuring a Cheetah graphic pattern mirroring adidas' new product.

The new Adizero 5-Star 40 cleats feature reinforced key support zones made with a SprintSkin Ultra that's 15 times stronger than steel yet light enough to float on water. The bottom support comes from the SprintFrame football plate meant to give players ultimate propulsion from toe-off through the final step of the 40 yard dash.

Speaking of the 40 yard dash, the three custom Porsche 911 Carreras up for grabs will go only to the three fastest prospects, so we expect players to be a little more motivated than usual.

However, we also expect the winners to get rid of Cheetah graphics after they take possession of the car.

See how Porsche Taiwan launched the 911 Targa with an orchestra live show, dance performance and a 3D mapping video.

During the launch event, a 911 Targa 4S was displayed on the stage and another 911 Targa was exhibited on the outdoor rooftop stage with the night scenery of Taipei in the background.

Default Forget the GT3, XCar Says Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Is the One to Have

The Porsche 911 GTS is definitely the car to choose for those who believe the standard 911 is too unassuming and the 911 GT3 is too wild. As Alex Goy points out in this latest review from XCar, the 911 GTS’ power increase, tweaked chassis and enhanced styling make it the ideal 911.

While not the fastest nor the most hardcore 911 (not to mention it’s not the cheapest either), the Porsche 911 GTS is all about balance. And that is due to the comfort it offers passengers compared to the more extreme versions like the 911 Turbo or 911 GT3.

But don’t think performance suffers as a result. As the reviewer says, the GTS is the ultimate road going 911 for normal people. This means it still is mind-blowingly fast and fun to drive for 99 percent of drivers, as you can find out by watching the following review.

Default Porsche 911 Targa Drives a Lap of the Historic Route of the Targa Florio Race

Alongside the Mille Miglia, the Targa Florio was one of Europe’s most spectacular and dangerous open road endurance races, taking place on Sicily’s mountain roads.

Car Magazine paid a visit to the historic 45-mile (72 km) road race route, which in its last 1977 edition was covered 11 times by racers. And what better car to drive a lap of the Targa Florio than the Porsche 911 Targa, named after the famous race?

Obviously, since we’re talking about public roads, driver Ben Oliver had to keep the 911 Targa within legal speed limits, which I assume is not an easy thing to do on that wonderful winding.

You’ll notice that the 911 Targa needed just 3 and a half minutes to cover the 45-mile lap, and that’s because we’re talking about time lapse video. Now imagine the Ferrari, Porsche and Alfa Romeo racing cars giving it 110 percent on those narrow roads and you’ll have a slight idea of how crazy and awesome the Targa Florio race was.

Default Porsche 911 GTS Gets TechArt Treatment

If you're a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS owner, you will definitely want to check out what TechArt's signature styling can do for you. At first glance, it looks terrific!

You could argue that the aerokit is very subtle, but that's because it will stand out in a more stylish and confident manner, rather than just looking exaggerated as some of these things tend to do. On the outside of the car, the front spoiler is new, as well as the side skirts and the rear wing. You can also customize the car with a set of 20" forged alloys, lots of carbon fiber inserts and a sports exhaust - which adds a racier sound at all speeds.

In fact, there are two different exhaust systems, both of which valve-controlled to adjust the loudness according to your driving style. You can't have a 911 look this good and not sound equally impressive.

On the road, the 430 HP 911 GTS is a fast car, no doubt about it. It has 430 HP and it can hit 62 mph in 4 seconds flat (4.2 seconds for the Cabriolet) which is an awfully good time. But in order to keep things practical, TechArt have fitted a "Noselift" system that gives you an extra 45 mm of ground clearance which you can use at your discretion by simply pushing a button.

Inside there's plenty of leather, contrast stitching, carbon fiber and aluminum. Pretty much all you need in order to feel amazing behind the wheel of this car. It's one of the best looking 911's we've seen lately.
