Lexus as usual messed up again - what a surprise

The IS needs to win market share - this can't be done by putting together a half assed product. BMW can get away with it with the 3 but not Lexus.

IMO the new IS can be the hottest car in this segment but Lexus is too slow to change their ways.
There is clear opportunity due to the following:
1) New 3 is a softer car and looks hideous base unless equipped with Msport package. Ridiculous Line packages and pricing.
2) Audi A4 is old.
3) Q50 - while nice safe design, its already dated IMO. I saw both the IS and Q50 in person at the NY auto show, and the IS blows it away in terms of design and it will still look modern in 5 years.

The IS needs to overwhelm the competitors to get noticed.
I feel the exterior/interior styling has achieved this but the carryover powertrains really hurt.
The other issue is lack of key options, small NAV, and idiotic regional packaging.

I guarantee in the Northeast there will be ZERO IS350 RWD available.

BTW Im very interested in the new IS based RC coupe.
My wish is for a turbo I6 with 350-400hp and a DCT. (The new 4series needs a worthy competitor)

So it seems the IS best case is its features, surely not performance. You will note the BMW is pretty bare for the price and still more expensive but if you go here

http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte.../LeaseRD.aspx#

The leases are amazingly attractive
320-$299
328-$349
335-$399

And most of these are leases so MSRP means crap. The elephant in the room once again is the 330hp larger new Q50 which also leases like a BMW.

I've been saying this for awhile. The Q50 is a wild card and will continue to be so until reviewers can actually compare it to it's competition which in regards to the 300hp club is now 1. IS350, 2. ATS 3.6 3. 335i

Truth hurts.

You don't go from being #1 in sales for 10 years straight to now #3-4 for no reason.

Have you ever leased a car???

MSRP is def a factor to a certain point. BMW does subsidize their leases with occasional promos and with high residual rates. But if you think you can lease a 328 or 335 for $350-400 ur kidding urself, unless u put down a lot of $$$.

If GS lease prices are any indication, the IS will be about 100-150/month cheaper to lease.

Are you serious? I'm knocked the IS very very openly but your statement that Lexus just makes mistakes is ridiculous and fanning flames on a Lexus forum.

When you subsidize leases like BmW does msrp is less of a factor. That's why you can lease a 40k BMW for the price of a 20k Camry. You do realize my argument is PRO BmW in regards to leasing

Hey let's forget at tsunami!

Hey let's forget at tsunami!
I never seen BMWs lease for same price as Camry - sorry.

Tsunami happened awhile ago now.......Lexus is getting raped this year again.

Late 1990s to early 2000s - Lexus were more competitive and had the superior overall product in lots of areas hence the sales success.

Back to topic ------> IS needed updated powertrains at LAUNCH and more options.

BMW is about to release 4series coupe/grancoupe, 3 series wagon, 3ser GT, M versions to follow.

Lexus needs to move FAST!
