Acura ILX

The original TSX actually came with a 205 hp 2.4 I4.

Weak**** K24 engine (didn't they even bother to do improvements on enhancements at all???)
A missed opportunity here (and to think this is supposed to 'replace' the TSX). Yikes

There were rumors that there were..............but I do hope it's not the case. The TSX is a way better car than what we're seeing here.
Anyways, here's also something to think about:
EPA ratings:
2.4L 201hp/170lb-ft torque 22/31 - Si
2.4L 201hp/172lb-ft torque 21/29 - TSX
2.4L 201hp/170lb-ft torque 20/29 - ILX
Considering the ILX is 'supposed' to be lighter than the TSX, well I'm kinda dumbfounded. What happened here Acura?
In fairness though, the RDX looks stunning and the spec sheet seems quite solid. As for this ILX, I'm not impressed so far.
Heck, I'd rather get a Buick Verano instead (it looks to be a better car than this ILX) :P

Its all about how much the car is going to cost. I though the first gen TSX was an excellent value, and so was the discontinued Integra/RSX, and previous gen TLs.
The 2nd gen TSX was grossly overpriced, as is the latest TL, and therefore their sales aren't great. Infiniti offers a better value.

With the Chicago Auto Show opening tomorrow, all of the local TV stations are doing reports from McCormick Place. This morning one of them was at the Acrua display and the ILX looked pretty good in person. IMO better than in the pictures. The RDX looked good and my guess is will sell well. The ILX? Not sure.

The problem for me is product overlap, not only with Honda branded cars like Accord but with other mainstream cars. The challenge facing near-luxury makers like Acura is that everybody, and I mean everybody, is encroaching on that turf with their everyday products. While the interior is nice and the feature set will probably be good the overall presence is not premium enough. Bread and butter sedans like the Camry, Sonata, Optima, Passat, Fusion and up-coming Altima have raised their game so high that this doesn't seem compelling enough.

It feels like they are even tarnishing the term "Luxury" by calling this a "Luxury" car. What would people say if Lexus brought out a badge engineered Corrolla and called it Econo Luxury, or if BMW did the same with a Mini Cooper?
What is so Luxury about it? I don't see it offering anything that a non-luxury brand offers.

The thing is the HS 250h starts at 37k, Acura has stated this will start at 25k.
When the new Accord debuts why on Earth would you buy this over an Accord? Thats the problem Acura continues to have being Honda plus.
