I know John Davis, and occasionally talk with him at auto shows (we have met a number of times), though he is not what one would consider a close friend. John himself is quite sharp, and knows his stuff. But the problem with the Motorweek show is that the show's producers try and pack so many things into that scant half-hour that there isn't really enough time in some of the regularly scheduled auto reviews to really give an accurate description of the car stem to stern.

and their long term updates do point out good and bad they experienced.
but the internet has made the show largely obsolete along with magazines which are obsolete as soon as they hit the news stand or mailbox.

i disagree. while john davis and everyone may be 'polite' without the usual internet trash talk they very much criticize vehicles pretty objectively about space, acceleration or braking distance, handling, etc.

Features gold-trimmed air vents
Carlex Design has released several preview renders with their interior customization program for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222).
The new S-Class is already one of the most luxurious cars on sale today but Carlex Design decided to infuse some opulence into Mercedes-Benz's flagship sedan by coating all of the metal elements inside the cabin in 24K gold. The precious metal can be found on a wide array of parts such as the buttons, air vents, speaker covers, door handles, company emblem and also on the steering wheel-mounted buttons.
There's also full leather upholstery which includes crocodile skin on the seats, dashboard, center console, both armrests as well as on the door panels – all for the purpose of turning the elegant S-Class cabin into something flashy that surely won't be appreciated by everyone.

The Black S63 AMG Coupe from Mercedes' Performance Art Spot
Here are some photos of the "velvet phantom that no one saw coming" (Benz's words, not ours), otherwise known as the S63 AMG Coupe starring in the German brand's newest online spot dubbed "Performance Art" that we showed you on Wednesday.
Seeing the interest in the black-finish example of the 577-horsepower bi-turbocharged coupe, Mercedes shared pictures taken from behind the scenes of the commercial.
It didn't say if and what extra parts were fitted on the S63 AMG Coupe, though, after a quick look at its home website in Germany, it appears that the 20-inch black wheels with the chrome ring are optional and are priced at €2,023 (about US$2,750).
