May 2013 Sales Thread

GS did a lot better in May, 2015, up from 1236 in April.
MB s currently selling 4 times as may C class cars as Lexus sells IS cars. Hopefully the 2014 IS will improve things.

So my two concerns about the Lexus lineup were allayed this month:
- GS is back over 2,000 units
- CT is up over last year 4.8% at 1,623
Some other good things:
-LS up 117% to 996
- ES up 100% to 5,890
Some bad things:
- Lexus bread and butter RX down 18.2% to 8,714
- GS is back over 2,000 units

I went car shopping over the weekend and Toyota dealers are raving about Avalon and Rav4. They just can't keep enough of them on the lots, and the numbers seem to reflect that. One dealer I went to only had one Rav4 left on the lot - sold 13 of them in one day!
Dealers are also getting super aggressive on Camry deals, with the Altima and Accord eating it's lunch lately. One was offering $5k off any model. Not shocked to see ~40,000 sales in May.

Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) today reported the U.S.-built Outlander Sport achieved a year-over-year sales increase of more than 79 percent in May.
The 2,226 units sold is the 2nd-highest-ever total of Outlander Sport sales in a month and marks the 9th consecutive month of sales increases for the fuel-efficient CUV. Outlander Sport sales are up more than 48 percent year to date.
"Outlander Sport continues to lead an increase in traffic to our dealer showrooms," said MMNA President & CEO Yoichi Yokozawa . "This attractively priced CUV is appealing to many customers looking for a crossover with high fuel-efficiency and outstanding safety features."
Outlander Sport recently received a "Top Safety Pick PLUS" designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Outlander Sport was 1 of only 2 vehicles in the Small SUV category to receive IIHS' new and highest accolade for vehicles that offer superior crash protection and meet new, tougher crash safety standards.
"We will carry this positive momentum through the summer selling season with increased network television advertising and the introduction of our all-new 2014 Outlander," Yokozawa added.
Lancer sales were also up, more than 15 percent for the month compared to the prior year and more than 43 percent year to date.
Sales of Mitsubishi models currently in production were up more than 31 percent compared to May 2012. However due to discontinued models, total overall Mitsubishi sales were down 15 percent.

there you go again. car purchases are VERY subjective/emotional. they often don't make any sense.
by rear trunk screen, do you mean a cargo cover? like this one?
http://www.acura.com/Accessories.asp...cId=RDX0014003
and as we know, not all buyers want lots of 'tech' either...
just as corolla's with 4 speed autos have sold like hot donuts for years

By defending the car, you made my point. Its for people that are honda fans with low expectations that don't care to try how much better a comparable Ford or Hyundai is, let alone an actual luxury vehicle. Funny how the RX or other cars get blasted for being boring, here is BY FAR the most boring/bland entry in the 30-40k range and its applauded for selling well.
So BMW, MB, Audi, and Cadillac gained a lot of marketshare in May, while it looks like Infiniti and Acura lost a lot of marketshare. Lexus has yet to show their numbers, but with the Toyota Group only increasing 2.5% I don't have a lot of hope. Are the Japanese luxury makes getting left behind in the US market?
The entire class is discounting, not just the GS.
