Audi overtakes BMW as adulterers' favorite car brand

As Audi hopes to surpass BMW as the top-selling luxury automaker, sometimes it has to look at the small victories, too. For instance, IllicitEncounters.com – a UK dating site for married folks (also known as adultery) – is reporting that a recent poll shows that more people willing to cheat on their spouses drive an Audi. Last year, this same poll showed that BMW was the car-of-choice for adulterers.

With Audi on top (pun intended) and BMW bumped to number two, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo and Volkswagen round out the top five car brands owned by unfaithful wives and husbands.

This is partly due to the R8's success. The R8 threw Audi into a new super car bracket, which brings along the rich, hip hoppers, athletes, Hollywood, etc. Where there is more money, there are more players and more deceit.

We have all be noticing the douche migration from BMW to Audi for years now.

Unscientific studies have shown douches are more likely to cheat.

LOL. let's face it, a lot of the 'sporty sedan / coupe' purchasing is by people with uh, large egos, so they tend to think they can get away with things!

No offense to you personally, Hoovey (you didn't write the article), but that is sick. Cheating on one's spouse is bad enough without web-sites specifically dedicated to it advertising openly on the Internet.

Having said that, though, there are a lot of good (and legitimate) reasons to drive an Audi today. And I agree that, in general, the brand has overtaken BMW in some areas.

Yup, it was a few years ago that Top Gear officially moved the "all drivers of this brand are c***s" crown from BMW to Audi. That made me very happy, since I drove (and still do) a BMW simply because I love the car, not because I'm trying to prove anything. The exodus of douchebags to Audi means they stop reflecting badly on me.

My northern L.A. neighborhood is still heavily douche-ladened with BMW drivers racing around like it's a closed course. The parents still have the Audis and Mercedes.
