Not a recipe for blistering sales. They'll fix it with time, although I do think Jaguar will always position itself as a boutique automaker, along with its complement company Land Rover.
Another consideration is that Jaguar has no proper RWD entry level sedan like the BMW 3 series, MB C-class, Audi A4 or Lexus IS as volume seller.

Its current volume seller the mid-size XF, until recently in the US, only came with a V8 engine as base model.

Both not recipes for mainstream sales numbers.

The Jaguar XS is around the corner, the XF can focus on then the leave the straddler image.

Now it has an arsenal. 2.0L I4 Turbo. 3.0L V6 supercharged. 5.0L V8 supercharged

This is a very valid point. John Q Public is an idiot. Oh no more Infiniti G, well then I guess I'll go buy or lease a BMW 328i.

You also make a good point about using the letter Q, the Q45 was a failure in this market, the QX56 was also a failure up until this latest whale inspired generation.

I'm still calling it the G37 until some clown from Nissan personally comes to my door to try to stop me. Then I'll continue to call it the G37 to his/her face.

IMO, Jaguar DOES NOT NEED any SUV vehicle in their lineup.

They have Land Rover for that......and the way I see it, it's better that way.

I agree, which is why I mentioned at the end of my post that Jaguar will remain a boutique company with its complement automaker LR.

i think infiniti has very little to lose, has few 'loyal customers' and is essentially starting over. since bmw uses numbers only, picking one letter (well Q and QX) with different numbers is not a bad idea to focus the brand, and 'why Q', well, if you decide to pick one letter, you want one that's least likely to offend around the world in any combination or meaning, and Q is almost like a 'symbol', and may get associated with 'quality'... just guesses, but i can think of far worse strategies. you're right about irking/losing existing G owners, but if the new product's great, the marketing and branding is consistent and solid, it might just work.

They should have checked with with their parent company, to see what "q" sounds like in french.

Have you been in a Jaguar dealership?

"Hi, yes, I'd like to service my $70k Jag".

"OK that'll be 3 weeks before we can fit you in."

______

"OK I waited 3 weeks."

"We are out of loaners, enjoy this Camry."

Sounds like a dealer problem rather than a Jag problem. For the brief time I owned one they always made sure I had access to either a Jaguar or Land Rover loaner car. Booking a service appt was always a week or two out...no different than the BMW dealers I've worked with though.

That would be true only if Jaguar couldn't do anything about it... which they can, as manufacturers have many ways to coerce dealers to model specific behaviors. #1 method is to not give them any cars to sell.

This rebranding is a complete failure in marketing. It's completely unnecessary and confusing. Their new CEO from Audi is doing it to leave his tainted mark on the company. They will lose some sales over this, not because people are butt-hurt, but due to confusion and brand recognition.

Whoa there Nostradamus!

We're close enough to release to see if your prophesy comes to pass. Then we'll know.

I haven't seen Nostradamus mentioned in a post before. I wonder what he drove?
