Everyone loves what the GTR can do

It falls short on looks, feel, interior, including back seat room

How could any of us be etch about having a 4 door GTR iteration?

Agree. If they bring it to production I just hope they get the steering sorted out.

Also: this settles the engine questions.

If you liked the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept we have great news for new: the Japanese carmaker has just announced what engine is powering the red rocket! Ready? Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept carries a twin-turbocharged 3.8-liter V6 petrol engine, same found on the Nissan GT-R!

According to the official press release, the engine delivers 568 hp and 600 Nm of torque and delivers the power through an all-wheel drive system with 50/50 front-to-rear torque split via a 7-speed transmission. Predicted acceleration of 0-60 mph in less than four seconds and a top speed close to 180 mph.

The bad news is that the Q50 Eau Rouge Concept has not been confirmed for production but the feedback received from the 2014 Geneva Motor Show might bring a new high-performance Infiniti on the market that could take on cars such as the Audi RS6 or the BMW M5.

"Building on the extremely positive feedback on the Q50 Eau Rouge at its recent Detroit Auto Show launch, we decided to further whet the appetite of performance sports saloon fans by engineering this powerful heart into our blood-red beast,” said Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company Limited.

“A car with such pronounced styling treatments demands the very best in terms of high-performance powertrains, which is why we installed this V6 twin-turbocharged, 7-speed combination as an example of what a potential powertrain for the Q50 Eau Rouge may look and sound like.” he added. It will probably make it since Nissan reuses stuff like crazy. Plus the VR series is way more robust than the VQ so it ensures reliability. I don't believe the VQ was ever designed for FI and Nissan wouldn't do a one off for this niche product anyway. VR is definitely the cost effective way to go

The engine isn't all that expensive anyway relative to the DCT tranny and other components in the GTR (like its AWD and suspension). This will definitely be an interesting M3 and ISF fighter...maybe with waaaaaaay more horsepower and tuneability.

Positioning is going to be interesting on this car

As the GTR is in the M5 space in terms of pricing, I would have a hard time seeing it priced like an M3/4 or RCF as this car will have Infiniti branding (I.e. Luxury car pricing applied)

Default Infiniti pushes ahead with 500bhp Q50 Eau Rouge

A 500bhp GT-R powered Infiniti Q50 saloon could go on sale, based on the Eau Rouge concept shown in Geneva this week.

The firm has given the green light to an official engineering feasibility project to explore whether the car could be made.

The Q50 Eau Rouge - named after the infamous corner on the Spa race circuit - was shown with a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 shoehorned under the bonnet.

"This is now an official project," said Infiniti boss Johan de Nysschen.

Infiniti plans to build at least one prototype to explore the engineering realities of fitting an engine designed for a four-wheel drive, transaxle-equipped coupé into a four-door saloon with a conventionally sited transmission.

“There are many things to look at, details like the different vibration harmonics that result when you take an engine designed for one application and fit it in another,’ said de Nysschen.

Infiniti will also test durability and the practicalities of manufacturing. "This is quite a complex process,"he added.

With the beating heart of a GT-R, it's not RC F, M3/4, C63 who need to be worried...it's M5, E63, RS6!

not exactly

was shown with a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 shoehorned under the bonnet.
GT-R has a 3.8L V6, and this 3.5 is slightly detuned

i think that 3.5 was a typo. they dont even make the 3.5, anymore. their new engines are 3.7 liters. and then theres this...
