They sold 5680 units of the ES, which was about half of Lexus car sales for the month. When the new IS numbers hit next month the mix should improve.

The GS is back down this month, to 1728 units

Only 1 LFA was sold in June
5,680 ESs is great and I think 1,728 GSs is good as well. That is about where I think the GS will be consistently in terms of sales volume (of course, more is better, but some months it's been much lower). Excited for the new IS to come online...

The GS had a $2500 lease incentive which helped.Toyota should have it every month.People love incentives.
Back in Dec,I got the invoice number, then $1500 loyalty and first month's payment. That got me into a GS.It works!

4484 5 series in June.

Post Kia

Kia Motors America (KMA) today reported sales in excess of 50,000 units for the 2nd straight month, as the all-new 2014 Cadenza reached the 1,000 unit mark for the first time following the launch of the flagship sedan's national marketing campaign. With 50,536 total vehicles sold, the U.S.-built* Optima midsize sedan was the brand's best seller for the 19th consecutive month, and together with the Sorento CUV - also built in West Point, Georgia - accounted for more than 40 percent of Kia's June sales. The Soul urban passenger vehicle also recorded strong monthly sales of 11,287 units.

Kia is in the midst of launching seven all-new or significantly redesigned vehicles this calendar year, including the 2014 Sorento CUV and Cadenza and Forte sedans on sale now. Later this year, all-new versions of the Soul, Forte Koup and Forte 5-door, as well as a refreshed Optima midsize sedan, are scheduled to arrive in showrooms. Each of these new products continues Kia's commitment to advancing value to new levels of sophistication by combining world-class design with cutting-edge technologies, premium amenities and affordable pricing.

Kia: 1 of the World's Fastest Moving Global Automotive Brands Kia Motors America is one of only 3 auto brands to increase U.S. sales in each of the past four years, and in 2012 the company surpassed the 500,000 unit mark for the 1st time. With a full line of fun-to-drive cars and CUVs, Kia is advancing value to new levels of sophistication by combining European-influenced styling - under the guidance of chief design officer Peter Schreyer - with cutting-edge technologies, premium amenities, affordable pricing and the lowest cost of ownership in the industry. Kia recently joined the exclusive ranks of Interbrand's "Top 100 Best Global Brands," and is poised to continue its momentum with 7 all-new or significantly redesigned vehicles scheduled to arrive in showrooms in 2013. Over the past decade Kia Motors has invested more than $1.4 billion in the U.S., including the company's 1st U.S. assembly plant in West Point, Georgia - Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia - which is responsible for the creation of more than 11,000 plant and supplier jobs.

The success of the U.S.-built* Optima and Sorento in two of the industry's largest segments has fueled Kia's rapid growth and is complemented by Kia's comprehensive lineup which includes the Cadenza flagship sedan, Soul urban passenger vehicle, Sportage compact CUV, Optima Hybrid, the Forte sedan, 5-door and Koup compacts, Rio and Rio 5-door sub-compacts and the Sedona minivan.

I really enjoy the sales call Toyota/Lexus posts. If you read the IS launch was insane.

http://pressroom.toyota.com/releases...rence+call.htm

Also I had no idea the Rav-4 was selling that well. Camry had its best month and yes incentives helped. Of course its marketing speak but everyone does it

June 2013 Sales Conference Notes

Now I’d like to turn it over to Bill for a look at June results.

Toyota Division Group Vice President and General Manager Bill Fay:

One additional selling day last year
Even better on an adjusted DSR basis, +13 percent
Easily best June in six years (2007)

Impressive jump of 600,000 units from May SAAR
Within shouting distance of the magic 16 million mark
Midway through 2013
Industry sales closing in on 8 million units
SAAR solid 15.3 million
Expect momentum to roll into summer months

Economic fundamentals remain strong
Consumer confidence, housing and employment
All hit 5-year highs during the past couple months

Industry fundamentals also strong
New products continue to bring people to showrooms

Tundra up 12 percent
Through first six months
Combined pickup sales up 18 percent
Slightly ahead of the segment’s growth rate (about 15 percent)

Toyota Certified Used Vehicles
Continued its string of record-setting results
Now set a new record every month this year
Sales of more than 32,000 up 12.5 percent

Looking Ahead
The auto industry has led the economic recovery through the first half of 2013 and we believe that will continue in the months ahead.

Toyota well-positioned to take advantage of this growth
Core models,
Camry, Corolla, Prius and Tacoma retain leadership positions
Newest models,
RAV 4 and Avalon, off to excellent starts

And we’ll roll out three all-new or significantly updated models between now and the end of the year to help keep the momentum going, beginning with Corolla this fall.

Thanks again for joining us today and now I’d like to turn this over to Steve for a look at Lexus.

Lexus Vice President of Sales Steve Hearne:

Thank you Bill.

I’ll get to the June breakout for Lexus in a moment…but the big news for us in June was the launch of the all-new IS lineup, which went on sale Friday.

The marketing launch actually started in mid-June, with a heavy emphasis on the new design, driving dynamics and technology advancements of the IS.

It seems to have made a connection with customers, as we sold more than 500 in just three days

Many of those customers came looking for the new IS F Sport with its bold design and sporty performance.

It helped give us to the best non-holiday weekend for Lexus in six years.

Pushed Lexus sales above 21,000 for the second straight month
Third time in last four month

Total June sales of 21,355
Up 6.7 percent on straight volume basis

YTD, sales up about 10 percent
At nearly 120,000 vehicles

The two other new cars in our line-up – the ES and LS – posted strong gains in June and both models
continue to show the biggest increases in their respective luxury segments.

ES
Up 50 percent in June
Sales of more than 33,000 thru first six months
Up 83 percent for the year

LS
sales up 45 percent for the month
Up 73 percent for the first half
LS also received the highest score among all models in J.D. Power’s IQS – for the sixth year in a row.

The SUV side of our business
RX continues to be the best-selling vehicle in our lineup
Sales of more than 8,600 in June
Year to date sales up 4 percent
Continues to lead luxury SUV segment
GX also had a good month
Saw sales climb 9 percent for the month
Lexus Certified Pre-Owned
Four consecutive record-setting month

We expect the IS fireworks to continue in July
All IS models currently at dealerships, including F SPORT version
Availability will improve throughout the month

Combined with ES and LS, that will give us three of the hottest models in the growing luxury sedan market.

Thank you very much for joining us today and now I’d like to open up the call for questions.

500 ISs in a weekend...can't wait to see what the month of July looks like

Not surprised to hear of Toyota's success with the Rav4. Dealers are still having trouble getting an adequate supply and most are only getting 6-7 in at a time, and selling them within a week or two. They should do very well once supply meets demand.

I would hope so. It's so much cheaper and still looks pretty nice.

Yeah, it is doing very well. Lower price point vs. the Germans, standard V6, fwd. or awd. etc. I also like their easy approach to options, regular or tech package. With the Germans prices go up fast when you start adding options.

Very tight with the top 3, but I have a feeling that 2014 S-Class will overtake 7-Series. Personally I'd be in a XJR if given the choice between these 8.

2014 CTS will move up a category, ES is still strong despite it's material short comings - name is everything, MKZ is strong for Lincoln. S80 needs a revamp pronto

IS should shoot through the roof, but those are some strong numbers from MBZ and BMW

Hoovey

I echo your point about the Mazda 6

I would really like to see an analysis of what is going on regarding customer perception on Mazda

One thing they keep doing that confounds me is spending marketing dollarson branding that few people understand

If you asked any one on the street what the f sky activ means you would get a bunch of blank stares

I had to wiki it and all I get is they use higher compression than (what I don't know)

I remember when they had the millennia they were harping on some unexplained engine tech then too

If some one there had any sense, they woul sell a turbo miata with close to 300 hp and it would sell like crazy
