So they priced it at $30,995. I have to say that seems like a very fair price, more aligned with the TSX than the TL. However, that kind of tells me it's market presence is going to be more TSX-ish. Now there is a huge gap between this and the RL. Poor planning, as far as what this company used to feed the public with.
Also, which models come with a physical gear shifter? I see it in one photo at Autoblog (same link), but it's photoshopped out in the next pic.

I'm with Mike on this one. The ILX clearly turned out to be a mistake. They should consider dropping it, and simply concentrating on the TSX. They could start, for example, by taking the money that the ILX is costing them and use it to add a V6 and AWD option to the TSX Sportwagon. A TSX Sportwagon so-equipped would make excellent competition to the upmarket Subaru Outback and possibly the Toyota Venza.....not the Accord Crosstour, though, because the Crosstour uses the wrong body style with the droop-rear.

Look at the ATS--starts at $30k, goes up to mid $50s.

Rotary ***** are coming into wider use now. Besides Jag, Land Rover uses them on some models, and so does the new Chrysler 200.

They priced it almost exactly the same price at the 2004 TL (ten years ago!). If I remember correctly, the TL without Nav was priced at 30k and the TL with Nav was priced at 32k and those were the only options at the time.
With this aggressive pricing, they are going to sell a ton of these. Perhaps this was the goal for this model - heavy volume. They know how poorly the current generation TL sold in comparison to the stellar 2004-2008 model. I can only guess they're trying to recreate that kind of volume.

There is also a greater price difference now more than ever between the TLX & RLX and that will only hurt RLX sales that much more.

As far as the pricing comments, it will lease cheap. At least the TSX and TL had cheap leases. This alone, if continues, will move this car out of dealers. I'm not drooling over it, but for the price-point (lease), it's a lot of car and freshness for the money. If only they'd dump the piece of garbage grille, it would actually look decent too.
