Mercedes Drops First Exterior Photo and Video Teasers of AMG GT
We have fresh news on the upcoming Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, as the Germans just released a darkened image of the exterior along with the first video teaser in advance of its world premiere "in the Autumn of 2014", which points to the Paris Motor Show in October, though, we hear that we might actually get a first look at it in July during the German Gran Prix.
The exterior shot outlines the AMG GT's silhouette with a very long-bonnet and a stubby tail featuring stretched out, horizontal taillights. Mercedes had previously shared photos of the car's elegantly styled interior with a tablet-style display, plenty of circular air vents and a bulky lower center console.
In the new official video, our ears are treated to the sounds of the car's new engine, believed to be a new 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 unit that will be offered in a number of different tunes, ranging in output from around 480hp to close to 600hp.

Mercedes-AMG GT rendered based on official teaser
Arriving in the second half of the year
The Mercedes-AMG GT has been rendered by our friends from IndianAutosBlog who used as foundation the official teaser image.
A couple of days ago Mercedes-Benz released a teaser video for the upcoming AMG GT and they also opened up a microsite where they posted a darkened image of the SLS replacement. Shoeb Kalania from IndianAutosBlog fiddled around with that pic and created a render showing a very potential look for the 911 competitor.
Gone are the SLS' gullwing doors but nevertheless the profile shows very attractive curvaceous lines with an extremely long hood and a sleek sloping roofline. Matching the exterior's beauty is the premium interior cabin for what Mercedes-Benz is describing as being a "monumental, unwavering engineering achievement."
Motivation will likely be provided by a V8 4.0-liter twin-turbo engine delivering around 520 bhp (387 kW) but there are also talks about a lesser version with 480 bhp (358 kW) as well as a Black Series model outputting no less than 580 bhp (432 kW).
The teasing game will continue next month when the company will talk about the vehicle's dynamics, followed in July by performance details and in August when the design will be explained. Most likely, the Mercedes-AMG GT will be fully revealed online in September, before being publicly showcased in October at the Paris Motor Show. Sales should kick off late this year or early 2015.

Mercedes has released some new details about the 2015 AMG GT.
In the latest issue of the company's Driving Performance magazine, the brand says the model will have a "muscular, never ending front" and a "staggeringly beautiful rear." That's pretty vague but the article goes on to say the AMG GT will ride on an aluminum space frame that will ensure it is a "true lightweight."
The company is still being tight-lipped about specifications but they confirmed it will feature a new twin-turbo engine which will be connected to a dual-clutch transmission. Despite the lack of details, previous reports have suggested the model will use a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that develops approximately 520 bhp (387 kW). Regardless of the final numbers, Mercedes confirmed the car will be launched in March 2015.
The issue also features an interview with AMG CEO Tobias Moers who he says "With the Mercedes AMG GT we're confidently entering an intensely competitive field. Above all because we know that the Mercedes AMG GT can do everything, not just to survive there but to inspired new trends." He went on to say "The Mercedes AMG GT is an all-rounder with extremely sporty aspirations. Yet it's comfortable and can easily be used for everyday driving."

Mercedes-AMG GT officially confirmed with 510 PS twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine [video]
http://www.worldcarfans.com/11406137...-ps-twin-turbo
Goes on sale March 2015
Mercedes-Benz has disclosed full details about the engine which will power the upcoming AMG GT.
It turns out previous rumors were spot on as the AMG GT will feature a twin-turbo V8 4.0-liter engine delivering 510 PS (375 kW) at 6,250 rpm and a maximum torque of 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) between 1,750 rpm and 4,750 rpm.
Codenamed M178, this Euro 6-compliant engine has a dry weight of 209 kg (460 lbs) and benefits from lightweight pistons and twin overhead camshafts while the flow-optimized cylinder heads feature zirconium alloy for optimal temperature and thermal conductivity. The cylinder walls have been lined with a nano-slide coating in order to diminish friction losses and there's no need for a conventional oil pan as the engineers used a dry sump lubrication technology.
The same engine will also find its way under the hood of the upcoming C63 AMG models (sedan, estate, coupe and cabriolet) but we will see it first on the AMG GT set to be unveiled this fall before going on sale March 2015.

Mercedes Praises the AMG GT’s Performance in New Teaser Video
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT will replace the SLS AMG as the carmaker’s flagship sports car when it debuts later this year at the Paris Auto Show. However, the AMG GT will not be a direct replacement for the SLS AMG, as it will compete in a different category and carry a more reasonable sticker price.
While we have seen the first official photos of the interior in April, the exterior design is still kept secret by Mercedes-Benz, as are its performance specs.
In this new video teaser, the German carmaker lets us hear the sound of the AMG GT’s newly developed 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine and reassures fans that the car will be really special. Mercedes-AMG describes the AMG GT as “a monumental, unwavering engineering achievement”.
Big words indeed, with Mercedes also saying that the AMG GT’s main philosophy is about “conquering a twisty road”. Hop over the break to watch the teaser.
