It is hard to say really. Who really knows if the person driving the older Lexus or BMW model is the original owner or if the car has had many owners. It all really depends on the person and who really cares if they are "cheap" or that is the only car they could afford (if bought used).

That's a poor statement by that guy. Lexus sells a lot of new cars every year (and had the lead for a decade).
The fact that you see a ton of old models still driving does prove its reliability.

This guy is just very jealous of Lexus's much better reliability than BMW's. He didn't want to mention the fact that less BMW owners want to(or dare to)keep their cars past factory provided warranty than Lexus owners.
