This does not measure how quickly Mazda can produce its cars but how closely packed together they are. One car comes off the line and the next one comes out 54 seconds later, but that tells you nothing about how long it takes from the start of the assembly line to the end of the line, which would really measure the speed of production.

So it takes about 30 hours from the start of the assembly line to the end. Who knows, Mazda could still be greater than 34 hours, taking longer than Chrysler (but packing them in like sardines!).

using a lot of the same components and platform also means much easier for the workers to work on and more familiar with them
also the point here is though, the production volume has been ramped up
what i am wondering on the greater picture is, the economy hasnt gone through a full rebound yet
yes, the consumer confidence index for July wasnt bad
but with Ford seeing high demand for Fusion, Lexus selling well, i wonder who is losing their piece of pie in the market share while Mazda 6 is eating it up?

F-150 rolls off the line at about that rate as well at their Rouge plant.
The Boeing 737 "moving line" (it's nowhere near as fast moving as a car line) rolls planes off the line at a rate of just over 1 per day (some like 38-42 a month).
