I have all those markings on my OEM IS-F wheels... But they are oem stamped on the inside blade..!!
Honestly they are going to have to pay to refinish each wheel and who ever etched your wheels should be fired by now..!!
Soo sad...

So the owner finally called me and asked me to come up. He offered to have them refinished and I was thinking about painting them body color (white) until I can afford the wheels I want -- would be a perfect opportunity to do so but he also said he'd do 40% off of a set of rims. If I don't go crazy and stick with 18 inchers I can use the tires I just bought and do wheels sooner than I had planned. It's a trade off because I'm a little more limited to what I can get but I'm sure I could find something out of 20 catalogs. LOL He sent some stuff home with me so I'm gonna go through them tonight and see what's what.

You gotta be yankin me. Listen that is a long time for the owner to come back. A lot of times things like this get dismissed and overlooked when there is a big time gap of 2 weeks involved between the work and the time you get to see the person in charge to complain. It will cost you nothing to file a complaint with the local PD and you need the issue logged in a report incase somehow the owner decides he isn't spending $1000 on new OEM wheels or half that on refinishing them. Protect yourself! File a report tonight. Too much longer and it will look fishy.

Took my car into get a new tire because my two month old ps2 was unrepairable and the tech scuffed the outside of the wheels. Now the manager said they will try to repair . If its 100%to my satisfaction he will order me another wheel. Just so annoying to even have to deal with this.

I agree it was dumb to actually scratch the wheel like that (and, IMO, you're probably entitled to new wheels). But some of today's cars are designed to have not only uni-directional tire treads( which can't be cross-rotated left-to-right), but also different size tires front and rear, which prevents front/rear rotation as well (or rotating a full-size spare). On those cars, there HAS to be some kind of wheel-marking (even in chalk) so the tire-techincian knows what is what. The only other solution is to put each tire/wheel on and off one at a time.....and some busy tire shops just don't have the paitience for that.

I just do not see how anyone would think that standard operating procedure. Considering how my minor scuffs were handled I think its safe to assume that you will be getting a new set of wheels or at least they will be sent out to be reconditioned

I would rather take the cash equivalent of the cost to refinish vs. picking out new wheels 40% off MSRP out of some catalog. I'd imagine the selection of wheels you've been given to choose from are like those stocked at Tire Rack, no?

I can imagine his boss is going to be pretty damn pissed. Most of these guys take classes to learn the field. This is technical stuff in the end.

hahaha. He keyed your wheels.
Whenever I take my car to America's Tire, I use a Sharpie to mark my wheels, with an arrow pointing to the corner it should be rotated to.
After job is done, I use alcohol wipe to clean it off.
