On those cars, there HAS to be some kind of wheel-marking (even in chalk) so the tire-techincian knows what is what. The only other solution is to put each tire/wheel on and off one at a time.....and some busy tire shops just don't have the paitience for that.
Now that Joe Z clarified the markings -- my wheels are marked on the back as 18X8 and 18X8.5 so that is all they need to put them back in the correct positions. The markings on the wheels designate front and rear and looking at the tires will tell you which side to put em' on.

BUT... I do realize that everyone in the world can't be blessed with the common sense and intelligence of Club Lexus members. I'm happy now. I'll get a hell of a deal on wheels and I managed to find PERFECT touch up paint for the stock silver color. Honda Starlight Silver HA 00974 from AutoZone matches so perfectly that I had a hard time finding the marks I had touched up.

It will cost you nothing to file a complaint with the local PD and you need the issue logged in a report incase somehow the owner decides he isn't spending $1000 on new OEM wheels or half that on refinishing them. Protect yourself! File a report tonight. Too much longer and it will look fishy.
I got it in writing on their letterhead. If he dicks me, I'll won't think twice about suing him. I want to say he seems like a good guy and wouldn't do that but I guess that would be pretty naïve of me.

Better the wheels than the paint.

That's actually a good idea to mark them like that. Probably will be exactly what I do - especially when I get the new rims.

Double dumbass. LOL The car was riding like crap since the new tires and I finally checked the pressure (yeah I should have when I got home after all of that) and he had way too much air in them. I backed it down to around 32 all the way around and my God, it's SOOOO much smoother..

Now if I could just find that damn rattle on the passenger side of the interior....ONE RATTLE....driving me insane!

Starlight silver is a perfect match for nearly every silver painted aluminum wheel. It matches my trucks wheels perfectly too.

That's ridiculous! I would have beat the crap out of the guy if that happened to me.

It blows me away that someone would do that to a set of wheels.
