Default Nissan GT-R Nismo spied at Nürburgring, 0-62 mph in 2 sec expected

http://www.autoblog.com/2013/09/03/n...ing-spy-shots/

We've got some great new images of the Nissan GT-R Nismo circling everyone's favorite testing ground/racetrack, the Nürburgring. The GT-R seen here is camouflaged rather extensively to hide body details, but we can draw a few things from the eight photos our spies have been able to capture.

The front bumper has been tweaked for better airflow to the engine, while the rear bumper has also been revised. The six-spoke, forged RAYS wheels from the GT-R Track are probable production items, while the twin oval exhausts are either aesthetic or part of a new, freer-flowing exhaust system. All of that is kind of overshadowed by the GT-R Nismo's huge wing, though. That big appendage should help keep the Nissan glued to the ground at the seriously high speeds its tweaked engine can propel it to.

Under the hood sits a twin-turbocharged V6, and while we suspect the displacement is probably identical to the standard GT-R, at 3.8 liters, the power output will be elevated. Our contacts suggest the standard car's 545 horsepower is more likely to turn into around 600 ponies. There are no signs, however, that this is a hybrid. As has been the case, rumors continue to swirl that the GT-R Nismo will get to 62 miles per hour in just two seconds.

I feel bad for the people who bought the gt-r the way they keep coming out with a new one every year, the owners must feel like a chump after they bought one.

LOL this is why I keep waiting and waiting. I talk to corporate family who tell me whats in the mail for Godzilla.

The only thing that sucks is that I get any Nissan at 1500 below invoice EXCEPT the GTR. Its cool. I have been saving my lunch money

Actually, those people are patting themselves on the back because: 1) they bought when the price was significantly less; 2) the GT-R has held its value extremely well; and 3) there are relatively inexpensive mods to boost acceleration to current model year times. Consider this: MSRP has increased by 40-50%, and yet the price is still justified by the car's performance. That's amazing! The GT-R was a phenomenal bargain for those that purchased early on.

I have doubts too BUT who the hell thought a 100k car would have been able to hit 60 in less then 3 seconds 6 years ago. Im not saying 2.0 but maybe a 2.5 0-60. In the end when Alpha AMS hit 1/4 mile in 7.98 seconds they called it a 7 second 1/4 mile time. I guess this is the same thing

There are reports that this will be the last special edition of the current GTR before the new one bows in 2016.

The blew the entire industry away when they brought the R35 to the US. I have 100% confidence that they will blow us away again. Like I said, Im not holding my breathe for 2.0 ,but a 2.5 0-60 seems pretty possible in Nismo trim

I drove an 09 and 2010 and the only way I would describe the way the car takes of as VIOLENT ACCELERATION !! I can only imagine what the 2013 feels like with the extra 60+ hp. Insanity. I remember when I drove the 2010 I was smiling so much my cheeks started to hurt. every light is another opportunity to launch and laugh .

2.0 is ambitious, but I believe the current 2013 model still have a tons of room for improvement without costing a lot.

The current 13' model quickest 0-60 mph run recorded is 2.7, if they do a combination of improvements like they say they are doing, I don't think 2.2~2.3 is very hard to achieve:

1, Weight reduction, the current car is full of steel at 3850 lbs, -300 lbs is not that hard.
2, 570~600 hp is only a high flow exhaust and a higher boost pressure ECU map away.
3, R-Compound tires, look at the picture on the prototype. Much more traction from the current rain tires.
4, More aggressive launch control, the current launch control launch at 3500 rpm I think, crank that up to 5~6k rpm and make the owner sign a waiver agreeing if it breaks, is not under warranty. This model is low volume to get away with that.

The 997 Turbo S with 3550 lbs, 530 hp and 5k rpm launch does 2.6, add R-Compound tires and 70 more hp

only if you bought a 2011 model, the post 2012 revisions were no where near as drastic.
