bitkahuna, Lexus is my favorite cars. Have a huge library of brochures of Lexus vehicles as far back as 1996, it was a childhood favorite , when I saw my parents friend rolling in the ES 300, or going to the Taste of Lexus around 2006, seeing the LF-A , however it isn't in my budget for one right now as working to take care of other expenses. But some day, when all the hard work pays off looking to have a GS 350 as my favorite Lexus.

I've only came close to buying a new car once. It was in the mid 80's and I saw a Dodge (Mitsubishi) Colt Turbo and took it for a test drive. I liked it so much I decided to buy it. (for the princely sum of $8,600 MSRP!)
The salesman insisted on trying the "low monthly payments" scam. I knew better and kept trying to get him to quote a price. He refused and kept trying "would you buy it for $350 a month? $300? $250?". I finally got fed up and told him flat out that I insisted on a price first and only then would I talk about financing. I also told him that if I didn't get a price quote right now I was going to walk out the door.
He wouldn't give me one, so I walked.
That dealership went out of business and is now a vacant lot. Good riddance.

When I sold cars we never went for that monthly payment tactic. We negotiated the trade and the total cost of the car. Only if the person asked about monthly payments would we provide that number. If we couldn't agree on monthly payments then we would discuss leasing with customers.
It was also annoying when you knew the person was wealthy enough to buy 10 of the $50,000 cars they wanted in cash and they sit and try to negotiate every cent of profit the salesman could get. Customers would sit and argue over amounts as small as $50. Then of course they wanna joke or complain about how they spent all day at the dealer.
