A Navy shipmate in '68 purchased a Hemi Roadrunner - not exactly a stock one either - we would discover it must have fallen off the truck bound for Petty Enterprises. No radio (you couldn't have heard it anyway), no heater (that 426 sitting up front produced all the heat you needed), and not even armrests on the doors - it was basically a taxi with a big motor, brakes, and a clutch that was all but impossible to disengage.
It was loud, raw, and without a doubt, the hairiest street legal vehicle I've ever driven. No power brakes or steering . . . try parallel parking that beast with that big chunk of iron sitting between the front wheels. The 4-speed must have come out of a tank, because it took a good deal of effort to get it from one gear to the next. Today's crop of enthusiasts would complain about its lack of sophistication - no leather, no rims, no tints; but it was a thing of beauty at speed on a winding 2-lane road, loafing along at 120 or so. Nothing like the blatting little TR's, MG's and Healey's that were considered the "sports cars" of the day. It was pure evil cloaked in Petty Blue.

chrysler is probably learning some valuable marketing ideas from the little Fiat.
I think if the Scat Pack car looks fun and desirable then it will be a winning idea!
but their dodge dart is obviously a failure. its not a bad looking car but for some reason
that maket would rather buy a toyota corolla or civic. The budget compact car
demographic doesn't even know the history and relevance of the Dodge Dart. Total
FAIL on Chrysler's part.
so chrysler needs more leverage on the marketing side like it has with the
"CHALLENGER" and "CHARGER". Does the name Scat Pack cause enough
interest that the younger generations go online and look it up ? that's what it needs.
And of course the car has to have that fiat and mini cooper feel.
