Anyone have experience with the new Range Rover Sport?
Search function is kind of wonkie here so I don't see anything on this topic. I was looking in the MDX range +/-
I just read a bit in R&T said the Range Rover sport was really nice. But I have not see one yet, but wanted to get the lowdown here if any have driven it.

I test drove one this morning. Unfortunately there is currently a 6-8 month wait list for them. If you're looking for something in the MDX range, this vehicle is going to be significantly more expensive than what you're looking for. Loved the drive though, drove like a more athletic version of its bigger brother. It does sit lower than the previous model, which was off putting to me.

I'm gonna guess the cost of ownership will be much lower on the Acura if you plan on keeping it for years. They sold Land Rover/Range Rover at the dealer I worked at and when the recent full size came out they sold FAST! The only problem was they were usually back in the service drive the same week.

I do. The two are not in the same league. The Range Rover sport even in base trim makes the mdx and most any other SUV seem like a toy. The RRS is simply exquisite and pulls with authority with the boosted 6. In V-8 form it's a rocket.
The mdx interior is way to bland and honda whereas the RRS is on par with the best at almost any price. The RRS interior is amazing and there are tons of color and trim options to choose from, including red leather.
The mdx does have a bigger 3rd row which is standard, it's optional for the RRS and advertised for kids and teens.
The RRS also boasts features that he mdx can only dream of. Looks are subjective but to me the RRS is sporty and classy and looks like a proper luxury SUV. The mdx is awfully bland and barely looks new and that front end still hasn't grown on me.
Honestly it's one of my favorite vehicles right now. As Tango said they are selling so fast and dealers are slapping every add on to make even more money. Very hard to get.

I heard that Land Rover is planning to put the V8 Diesel as well as the V6 Diesel Hybrid into the Range Rover Sport lineup next year.
Man that's insane cause those engines produce as much as 700 Newton Meters of torque

Honestly, my last RR experience consisted of just taking it in for software updates a couple of times. The most recent models have moved past mechanical issues, which were deal breakers for me.

Yeah comparing a RRS to an MDX is silly, the RRS is way more vehicle. Not to slight the MDX which is also a great vehicle, just entirely different price points.
If I were in that price bracket for an SUV, thats what I'd buy no question. Its beautiful inside and out.
I like the new Range Rover too, I've started seeing a ton of them around here.

And to me when it comes to an SUV, nothing has the class and panache of a Land Rover or Range Rover.

Two things against the LR is extra cost which I can handle, and it's unowned reliability. I really don't know what will be more reliable the MDX or the LR. I can surmise but there is no way of knowing for sure as I have read people with MDX that have had multiple problems and read about people have had LR without problems.
I'll try to get a test drive of the RRS it does seem to be the king of the class.

The MDX will be more reliable, no doubt in my mind.
BUT, its kind of like saying an Accord is a better car than a BMW M5 because its more reliable. The MDX is reliable family transportation...the RRS is way more than that.
Few people would consider a car that is more or less $25,000-$30,000 more than an MDX as being in the "MDX range"
