An unwarranted insult at an excellent vehicle.....I can't agree. I recently reviewed a top-of-the-line Kia Sorento, and, though it admittedly is not cheap (top models, loaded, can run over 40K), its road manners, ride-comfort, and noise-isolation are superb....bette,r in some cases, than so-called "luxury" SUVS.

Also, go blue 99, have you checked out the new Subaru Outback? It's hard to beat the quality of Subaru AWD systems, though the newer Subarus don't seem to be quite as solidly built as those of several years ago, and some of their ride comfort isn't as cushy. Still, the Outback is a good daily driver, and it doesn't have those nonsensically large 19/20" wheels/tires standard on the Venza which are expensive to replace and don't offer much impact/pothole protection.

Just got a 2014 Honda CR-V loving every moment but it doesn't seem to have the features you want, i'm sure you can get a great deal right now on the outgoing Toyota Highlander for 2013.

Sorrento isn't bad either with a nice 7 seat option

Pre-Owned Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland would have everything, except the LED Taillights. Those didn't come until 2014 Model Year.

Absolutely loved mine and would have kept it if not for my company car.

She doesn’t want to drive a big 7-seater SUV or minivan, so we are looking at 5-seaters. We would like to spend under $35k fully loaded but willing to go over for something we love.

Looking for something with a big back seat (infant seats are big), and solid cargo space. We would plan on having a 2nd kid while owning this car.

I’m big into features and want as many of these options as possible: Xenon headlights, LED tail lights, Blind Spot Monitor, rear parking sensors, premium sound, navi, memory seats/mirrors, heated/ventilated seats, pano moonroof, etc.

Wife doesn’t know a lot about cars but wants something that “looks good”.

We haven’t gone on any test drives yet but this is what I have on my list so far:

’14 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport (our top choice, on paper anyway)
’14 Toyota Venza (nice features and space, but lots of complaints about cabin materials)
’14 Acura RDX (good quality but the smallest cargo and most expensive of this group)
’14 Nissan Rogue (redesigned and bigger now, lots of great tech, but only 170 HP).

Anything else I should add to my list? We are willing to wait until after baby is born if any new great models are coming out in 2014. Appreciate any advice.
I know your wife says she doesn't want 7-8 seater, but frankly, with some of the stuff you want, I'd look at a '14 Highlander when it comes out. I looked at the '12 (but ended up with a CX-9). A fully-loaded Venza was just as much as a loaded Highlander. It's not as big as you think. If you are planning on keeping it as long as your Mazda, in a few years, you'll be glad you have the 3rd row when you start carpooling.

This actually might be the best bet. If you want the features you are looking for, especially memory seats (which I love), I think you need to move up to 7+ seater, or to a lux brand. And I'm not aware of any non-lux brands with vented seats.

You could even find a decent mileage RX at a place like CarMax, without the CPO. Even if it has 30,000, it's going to last a long time.
