It's not every day that we come across a new company aiming to make a high-performance supercar. But it sure can seem that way. The latest to enter the fray is Supercar System, a company determined to deliver exotic machinery, but with a twist: that twist being a far lower sticker price than you'd expect of most such exotics.
A target price of $69,000 promises to get you a chromoloy frame draped in carbon-fiber bodywork with a V8 sourced (naturally) from General Motors and a 2,200-pound curb weight. With power ranging, according to the customer's specifications, from 452 to 694 horsepower, the car aims to deliver a 0-60 time of around three seconds.
Couple that with a six-speed sequential transmission, a flat underfloor leading to rear diffusers and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, all in a highly customizable configuration, and you've got a potentially winning package on your hands. We say "potentially" because a lot of these ambitious projects never see the light of day – but with these kinds of specs, here's hoping this one makes it to production.

If asked to invest in the company, I would pass.

There already is a GM-powered V8 "supercar" wannabe. It's called the Z06 and MSRPs at $75k.
What exactly this company thinks it can do with the exact same engine and at $69k is beyond me.

GM engine ? That company better contribute those pricing for a Super Car Carbon Fiber Chasis toward GM.
Why? Because with that Cheap Quality (doubt it) Chasis, GM can pretty much build a 2800 Lbs C7 Special Edition Sting-Ray with 500 HP....
Now...Priced at 75k.
That is Ground Breaking, Sky Shattering Performance for the Price.

Performance cars and especilally those that want to aim for supercars have to be more than hp and power-to-weight ratios and lap times to be compelling. At least Chevy put lots of racing experience into the C6 development and it shows.

not that this thing is going to be a volume seller, but doesn't this threaten GM Vette sales a bit if they are dropping Vette motors into something lighter and faster .
If I found out I was selling engines to a place that was building a sports car that was 1000 lbs lighter than mine and with similar power I might have to stop and think. Then again the vette buyers are so loyal and die hard you never know

The problem I have isn't the similarity to the Z06, it's that the Z06 occupies a similar segment and has generations of related racing experience with the various Corvette chassis that aided its development. I just don't see what some random startup can hope to achieve in terms of a well-engineered and composed sports car at a lower price point.

If they succeed great, the world could use more sports cars, otherwise they'll wind up like the thousands of other automaker startups that have tried and failed
